Hagler Hearns was the first fight I remember watching and I wish they'd met again. And I would have loved to have seen Bomber Graham get a shot at redemption against Julian Jackson.

They do say most rematches go the way of the first fight!

one rematch that i was surprised never happened was Vitali Klitschko v Chris Byrd.

I know Vitali lost by a damaged shoulder, but surely it rankled him that he has a loss to Byrd. The fight happened in 2000 and vitali didn't retire till 2004 , after having another 9 fights, in that time Byrd lost to Wlad, but then went on to beat Tua and Holyfield and hold the IBF title. So it was a marketable fight.

I think the loss kind of made is possible for US TV and fighters to..... well forget about him. He was stigmatised as Quitchscko and it gave the TV companies and promoters a reason to not fight him.

He was a substitute when he fought Lewis for Kirk Johnson. Credit to Lewis for upping the level of opponent - at the time it was seen as a lose-lose fight for Lennox, although the saving grace for the American fans was that Johnson was a proven bottler with nothing to offer to beat Lewis. Of course, now I actually consider this the best fight for Lewis' legacy.

Klitchsko simply wasn't going to get another chance, it took Wladimir quite a while to get good fights and recognition after the Purity setback.

That should have been a DQ or NC, and not a win for Barker. Thats was another in the Hall of Shame for a certain referee

Yep, think we covered this a while back on another topic, I got DQ'd Vs Jones for far less by Dave. Anyway, thought it at the time and still feel the same, it should have either been a NC or a DQ for Barker, but I think NC and rematch. :TU:

What have you got against Duran?

Do you mean Hagler vs Duran...... because Hearns would make Duran roadkill 100/100 times!
