THREE JUDGES.....It's finally happedned.

Apologies if this is old hat, but I read the board have finally caved in and appointed 3 scoring judges for British and Commonwealth title fights.

For non-title fights the referee still scores.

Most will be happy I suppose, but a year from now, I bet we still have all the same debates about controversial decisions.

Yeah i think it is not before time, three judges may create controversial decisions but the ref should be left to do the things that matter like looking out for a fighters health etc. People say he can give the fighters the benefit of the doubt in situations because he is scoring but if he interacts with the judges anyway he will be able to keep track what is happening scoring wise. I think it is a good move all round.

Board of Control introduce 3 scoring judges for title contests

The British Boxing Board of Control has finally fallen into line with the rest of the world and agreed to allow three scoring judges for all future British and Commonwealth title fights under the their jurisdiction. The referee will be non scoring

The BBBC's stewards passed the new regulation following their Annual General Meeting in Cardiff, Wales on May 25. Non title fights under the Board's jurisdiction, however will continue to be scored by the referee.

One would assume that the extra expense will be passed onto the promoter, which will only add to the already high cost of putting on promotions but at least the new ruling will go a long way to eradicating controversial decisions.

Awesome news - best all year. Controversial decisions will still happen, inevitably, but at least the fighter can say they were winning on one scorecard, plus a SD or MD looks ten times better than a UD. Results that show what actually happened should be the goal, and this brings that a notch closer!

This will be a big issue for most small hall promoters. The margins for putting on small hall shows are tight as it is and while we have called for judges after some fights we should remember that many events only break even or indeed make a loss. Let's hope the BBBofC will be prepared to shoulder the burden when required.

I thought he edged it to be honest. Brilliant fight one of the best I have seen in a long time in a British ring. I thought it was better than the Booth fight myself.

If does create more expense for us promoters but then I guess not many small hall promoters are putting on British and Commonwealth titles. But an extra expense like this can be the difference between breaking even or lossing money.

Lets be honest 3 judges still does not stop controversal decisions!
