Re: Tony Bellew Splits With Arnie
It was only a matter of weeks ago he was raving about him as a trainer, wasn't it? Bit of a shock this...
Re: Tony Bellew Splits With Arnie
Good to see him wanting to train back home and good to see them still being on good terms.
Re: Tony Bellew Splits With Arnie
shocked at this, bellew will have thought long and hard about this bet its tearing him up leaving arnie as the camp seem so close, if hes training in liverpool he should go with the vaughan camp imo
all the best bomber

Manchester and Liverpool not exactly worlds apart are they? More to this than meets the eye
Re: Tony Bellew Splits With Arnie
This is purely down to traveling reasons only, Arnie is a good coach and it was a hard decision but my family come first and that's it.. Like I said this is nothing to do with Arnie as a coach cos the guy is a top coach!!
Re: Tony Bellew Splits With Arnie
How long was your commute, Bomber?

Can imagine it being a ball-ache making the journey day in, day out.
All the best fella.

depends where arnies gym is and where tony lives throw in traffic its more than half hour, fair play family comes 1st
Re: Tony Bellew Splits With Arnie
45 min journey, 44 miles exactly.. Long drive some days.. Sparring is never an issue when money is involved..
Re: Tony Bellew Splits With Arnie
I travel that to and from work every day! haha. But can see it might be tiring and a ballache if you are training and being a professional boxer. Must admit it does seem strange considering all the positive spin you came out with backing Arnie as a trainer a few weeks back.Bomber 1 wrote:45 min journey, 44 miles exactly.. After all these years why decide to leave arnie now?? when you are 4 weeks away from one of the biggest fights of your career

Best of look mate
Re: Tony Bellew Splits With Arnie
Good luck to Tony, but how often do trainers and fighters split after a loss or a couple below par performances.
I think a lot of his recent problems have been getting down to 175lb. Tony is a big unit

Can't do liverpool to manny in half hr unless your in a car driven by a loon who has no points on his licence and doesn't give a fornicate about speed cameras.Cotto16 wrote:Tony its only half hour away on the motor way, who will train you for your up comeing fight? and what will you do for sparring?Bomber 1 wrote:This is purely down to traveling reasons only, Arnie is a good coach and it was a hard decision but my family come first and that's it.. Re: Tony Bellew Splits With Arnie
I've always had huge respect for the way Tony conducts himself on here, but I'm sorry to say that this is the first time I think he's not being completely honest.
To be frank that commute is nothing in the scheme of things as most of us know through experience (Most people have a longer commute than that and will do longer 'work' hours than Tony does as a pro) and historically any fighter aspiring to reach the top will make far bigger sacrifices than that for a benefit like getting access to the best trainer for them.
I can understand why Tony wants to have a 'neutral' angle like this for the split given he's clearly a nice guy and gets on with Arnie, but this reeks of 'advice' from you know who and his team on the basis of his last couple of performances.... different scenario, but for me this has shades of the Khan and Harrison split.
