Well I think it's harsh if you are stopped on cuts Glyn and it depends how long their fights have been. Easier to last 4 rounds than 8. A little more difficult to calculate but boxed for 75% of scheduled rounds? Or you don't need to be so specific, just eliminate those that are getting knocked out every other fight.

Without taking a close look at the records of the fighters I mentioned, I would have thought the same Scott. But there are an awful lot of four and six-round fights on those records, which is understandable as they are generally brought in to give work to talented novice types. With Prizefighter only being three-round fights, these lads seem perfect for the job. Not sure we need to make it any more difficult than it has to be, but open to being convinced.

I'm thinking about it too much Glyn, ignore that last point. Regarding Doc's point, I don't want there to be a KO just because someone is in there that goes down every time he gets hit. Journeymen, not tomato cans.

It's difficult Scott, isn't it lol. What I'm trying to come up with is something that ensures that while the fighters might have lost more than they've won, they're nobody's knockover jobs - they're solid, capable pros.

Good point, or maybe the oldest Journeyman still alive - not sure who it would be, but if he would be up for it Physically, nice to salute him also alongside Buckley.

Thought of an idea...... how about a percentage of the prize money (sorry guys) going to help out poor Howard Clarke.

The only problem with the >75% lasting the distance is that there is very unlikely to be a KO during the night. KO's are exciting and one of the big highlights for the general public watching.

I think all the other criteria sound good, unless Buckley wanted to make a comeback for one night, then he would surely be the exception to the "active pro's" rule.

I know what you're saying Doc but one of my worries with this is that the bigwigs might look at the idea and say 'journeymen, they're losers, they'll fall over as soon as they get hit'. Double edged sword type situation, damned if you do, damned if you don't.

I suppose what I'm really suggesting is that we want the really solid fighters in there, the ones who have proven they can look after theirselves against virtually anyone. OK, maybe the fights will last the distance, maybe their won't by bundles of KOs, but not all Prizefighter competitions have had loads of KOs in them anyway - that's just a risk they have to take. Personally, I just want to watch these lads box each other, not bothered about KOs, I think it will be fascinating to watch them use everything they've learned against each other.

But you make a good point Doc. Anyone else got an opinion on this?

Yeah, I agree, I wouldn't watch to see KO's but some people do, especially with prizefighter.

To be honest though, most journeymen will get over the 75% mark easily and at least in could provide a point where we can prevent knock-over jobs getting in ahead of genuine journeymen.

Glad to see the idea is gaining real momentum and hopefully SKY will take notice asap.

If I need Usain Bolt for my show his agent comes back to me. Same with the people in charge of Mike Tyson and David Beckham.
It's not a case of being pleased - I've been defending Smith and SKY on these forums and in The Independent and the Boxing Monthly for over ten years.
As a journalist you need to cover all angles on a story...so Greaves talks about a Prizefighter for Journeymen and I then call Eddie Hearn and the last piece of the puzzle is SKY. That is called balance...I needed a SKY comment to make it complete...it would be like having a boxing show on TV and ignoring Carl Froch for three months!
It's that simple, trust me.

Obviously I know nothing about the situation really, but Adam Smith openly criticised the promoters for not communicating/having their own agenda, and doesn't reply to a topic creating a fair amount of fan interest? I do think Sky are listening to feedback regarding their Ringside show, but seems like he is avoiding this one.

I think that just sums up why Sky won't give you any work, mate. If you dare to have an opinion that doesn't agree with their's, they will hand you your P45 quicker than you can say 'theatre college".
