That big fight 'tingle'

Post by Goz »

Whatever you want to say about the fight, about Hatton being over-protected etc this is giving me that big fight ‘tingle’ now.

The same ‘tingle’ I used to get before big Lennox Lewis fights, ones when I felt he was really in danger of losing. When the ring announcer is introducing the fighters your heartbeat increases and when the first bell sounds you shout out “Come on Hatton”.

I like Ricky Hatton, sure I don’t agree with the way (or pace) his career has been moved to date, but I like the way he fights and when he’s interviewed I like the lad and I’ll be screaming my lungs off tomorrow night and my neighbours can go f&$k themselves.

As a British fight fan you have to want Ricky Hatton to beat Kostya Tszyu tomorrow night. As an English football fan do you cheer on the opposition just because you don’t agree with some of the managers selections?

Sport is at it’s most enjoyable (and agonising) when you are rooting for someone (or a team). Sure it’s fantastic to watch an entertaining scrap between 2 fighters when you aren’t really that bothered who will prevail but when you really want one of them to win, for whatever reason, that is what really gets the adrenalin going like nothing else.

Have you had a few shandies already?? ;-)

agree entirely although a small part of me doesnt want Hatton to win purely cause of my dislike to allegedly Warren....

Hatton is "the boy next door", down to earth, friendly guy you cannot help wish him the best!!!!

No shandies yet Matt, but I'm glad I managed to convey that 'tingle'!

I am actually thinking of not drinking tomorrow night in order to keep a clear head for the big fight.

No, that's gay. You must drink, drink for Ricky and drink for your country.

Yep all the shit can be put aside now. You've got to give it to Ricky, he's tackling the no.1 guy out there who put on a devastating display last time out. There's nothing careful or strategic about this match, it's about taking on and beating the best.

I don't think he'll pull it off but I hope beyond hope he does. It's not impossible. This isn't Tyson v Bruno.

Come on !!!!!

Well c'mon, what chance will Ricky have if you can't even be bothered to get pissed for the fight?

I'd love him to win, but fully expect to witness that 'different class' reality check by around the second round, like when ward dug a vicious hook into shea neary's ribcage and his face contorted with the realisation he was mixing with talent he wasn't prepared for. Plus the hook must've effin' killed.

But to shout against Ricky because of Uncle Allegedly is ridiculous.

Would people adopt the same logic with Amir or Danny W?

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGH! I'm getting really excited now.

Can't imagine what 'll be like come fight time. Pissed probably. :box:

Tip: For that genuine MEN arena feel, get someone to sit behind you and shout the following:

"Come on Rickeeeeeeeey! Hit 'im!"

" Use the Jab!"

" Come on son, Fuckin; knock him out!"

and (My favourite)
" Manchester, la la la. Manchester lalala!"
Repeat.

"Use the jab" is one of my particular pet hates because:

1 - It's obvious

2 - Commonly used by people who know nought about boxing trying to impress bystanders with their glittering array of boxing terminology.

Same here. Even a win here, as huge as it would be, does not erase or legitimise the way he's been brought up. Really wish I could get the excitement and nerves going for this one, but I'm feeling much the same as deadpan.

If Tsyzu looks sharp and Ricky still manages to get through to him, then I'll definitely be cheering for Hatton. If Kostya looks shot, I'll probably reach for the sickbag - remember Ricky's celebrations after stopping 37 year old featherweight cum lightweight Tony Pep for his WBU title? Imagine what it'll be like with Tsyzu, shot or not? :TU:

No, I disagree.

Stripping myself naked then rubbing baby oil all over my body then during the fight rubbing my throbbing love rocket against the TV screen screamining "Come on Ricky, push forward, harder!!!!".

That would be gay.

True, in part. It would be gayer than not drinking.

Last night was a bit of dress rehearsal, went to the pub etc, watched Harrison-Brodie around midnight and wasn't close to falling asleep.

Bit hungover today but at work, will have kip when I get home and go to the pub and for a meal a little later than usual, aim to return for midnight.
