Do I believe its all to do with a 45 min commute? Do I bollocks. However its Bombers choice and I hope the move works out well for him as he is a top talent.
Here, here. I don't really buy it, but then as a fan it's none of my business. Tony's under no obligation to let us know anymore just because he posts on here. Whatever if he feels it'll help his career then fair play.
Totally agree.. Its between Bomber&Arnie&wish them both well in there careers...
Us guys on here are just snouty&want to know the ins&out of a ducks arse

Mate, it's not a case of being snouty, if Tony had come on and said from the off that it was a private matter between him and Arnie I think everyone would have respected it. However, he chose to offer an explanation that didn't ring true for many of us so it's perfectly legitimate to question it.
Having said that, Tony's said he's not going to say any more on the subject so I hope this move works out for him and he goes on to future success.
Farnell was a very good fighter and is a very good trainer. Tony Bellew is a good pro fighter who was very good class amateur. Though they may have been on very good personal terms their relationship was a professional one. There doesn't seem any muck to rake; it was a bit of a surprise to me; imo it hasn't been Arnies 'fault' that Bellew has been caught hard a few times. Tony has an aggressive style and looks to please the fans; under no coach will he be Benitez like.

It's not about 'nosey bastards' It's a boxing forum! We talk boxing. People want to know and they are going to ask. It's not like anyone is asking Tony Bellew about his realtionship with his wife and kids or what kind of bank account he has, who he voted for in the last election or what he has had for his tea.
I agree to a point Carlos; I am a boxing fan but I'm not Columbo.
Bellew has given a reason for the split and it seems that people are choosing to disbelieve that given reason. Though there may be more to the change of trainer it does seem a touch disrespectful toward Tony Bellew; it implies a level of deceit. The 'truth' (if there is one above travel time) will no doubt come out in the wash.
Some of the posters come across like my wife when I'm an hour late from the pub.

Simon, you normally talk sense on here so it's disappointing hearing you come up with this nonsense. Tony chose to make a comment on a PUBLIC forum - no-one asked him to come on and no-one forced him. Given he chose to do so, ergo it follows that anyone belonging to the same PUBLIC forum has a right of reply.
I'm not a nosy b stard, I'm an adult who has the freedom to express an opinon - as part of that I asked Tony questions. He's chosen not to answer - that's his right and he's done it in a diplomatic fashion. End of.
But don't ever question my right to ask the question or infer that it's somehow out of order

I'm not implying it - I'm saying it outright! I do not believe that is the sole reason - it may indeed be a contributory factor, but I categorically don't believe that is the sole reason (or even the main reason).
I also think that anyone who believes it is the sole reason is naive in the extreme - again, fully accept it's just my opinion, but it's one I'm perfectly entitled to.
However, what I do understand is Bomber's motivation for wanting to have a narrative for the split that avoids controversy, given he clearly thinks a lot of Arnie on a personal level (and understandably so).

I read this thread from the start as the split was news to me. Some of the questioning about travel times etc seemed a bit too inquisitive. Bellew has chosen to come to the forum and post; as he does regularly. If there were more to the split Tony may not want to tell the world about it out of respect for Mr Farnell, who has brought him on in leaps and bounds.
In any case; the 'nosy bastards' jibe was out of order and I expect to be pulled up and called it myself before the month (week) is out.

Brilliant riposte Jeff. I feel somehow both humbled and humiliated.... maybe ESB is a more natural home for you after all given the level of debate you're capable of on this occasion...

Simon, thanks, genuinely appreciated. For what it's worth, it probably stung that bit more because I normally agree with what you say and enjoy reading your posts
I don't want to go over old ground too much, but i guess it's because I feel Tony was better off not saying anything at all than coming up with something that in my opinion doesn't ring true - I try not to treat the boxers on here as sacred cows and in the same way that I'd 'call out' a fellow poster on here if I thought he was saying something that had holes in it you could drive a truck through, I did the same way with Tony. Doesn't mean I don't respect him.

it's a boxing forum mr.fox. bellew is a boxer & if he decide's to be diplomatic & put out reason's they are going to be judged.if he said it's amicable & i dont wish to let people no mine & arnie's buisness, so be it. farnell aint the type to make a person look bad & mug himself like brian hughes.
you join company for the right reason's & leave for the right reasons.
Bollocks to all this arnie and bomber nonsense!Im still waiting on a answer on my mythical matchup! So who wins,Pat sharp or one of the chuckle brothers in a boxing bout?In times gone by I think it would of been a no brainer,Pat sharps mullet would of given him the edge but he no longer has that power to fall back on!
Not surprised at all by the split to be honest, I just thought that 2 weeks before the biggest fight of your career you would have stuck with it and changed after the rematch with Ovill? Good luck on the night and for the future
I know both of them well and to be honest im surprised by the split.... Obviously there could be more to it but i think it wont come out til after Bellew's next fight if at all. I hope it has been amicable because it will be a shame if it hasnt as both are great lads.......
Well i wish both the lads all the best for the future and look forward to working with them soon....
To be a bit fair though - as Bellew regularly contributes here it was a bit awkard for him no matter how he reacted. He didn't start the thread and I'm sure there would have been acqusations had he not said a thing.... you know "Bellew is awfully quiet etc" - not sure he could really win either way.
Taffytoon, I don't see McKenzie 2 as the biggest fight of his career, he has beaten him. I don't see the controvesy in that first fight.... sure it was stopped early, but it was going to end up a clear points win for Bellew. McKenzie had shot his bolt.

I genuinely don't know the ins and outs of this, but there's quite a few things not being taken into account. For instance, maybe Bomber might want to train twice a day, with a kip at home in between — common practice for boxers, hard to do if it meant making the journey twice every day. He's a father, maybe he's got to pick up the kids from school because his missus is working — we have to remember that we're not talking someone on mega purse money at the moment, Bomber has the same responsibilities as many of us. As for moving to Manchester — easier to do for a Brummie like Frankie, but come on, we all know that Mancs and Scousers hate each other, why would Tony want to move his family into 'enemy territory'? I certainly wouldn't do that, least of all if I came from a community as close as Liverpool is.
What I'm trying to put across is it's sometimes easy to forget that boxers are normal people, with normal lives — particularly the lads on the way up, like Bomber, who have yet to hit the big paydays.
Like I said, I really don't know the story behind this and I haven't spoken to either Arnie or Tony about it, but I think it's jumping the gun to assume that a) Bomber isn't ambitious enough and b) he isn't happy with Arnie as a trainer. Could be anything. But Bomber and Arnie are both top blokes and I wish them both well.
Aside from why the split has happened, does anyone think that Tony Bellew has made the wrong decision to change trainers?
I'm not criticising Arnie, but Bellew was a stand-out amateur who I expected to be sailing through domestic opposition and make it to at least European title level. Given Tony's performances against Ajisafe and McKenzie that now appears far less certain so perhaps a change of trainer and base will do him the world of good. For the record however, I'd genuinely back Bellew to stop Cleverly if and when it happens.

As much as I respect you knowledge Stu can you name me a bigger fight he has had to date? Seeming as the first fight was stopped to early and a lot of people had Ovill ahead at the start of the stoppage round then this rematch is the biggest fight of his career or it would not have been made IMHO. Ovill proved he had the power to put Tony down and could of again in that fight (Tony put him down with a flash left hook after all)
For me the first fight was a bigger fight - in the ring. I think what we will see this time is just a continuation of the first fight. Maybe Orvil was ahead on the night - I didn't score it that way, but that is by the by. What I think most are in consensus of though, is that Bellew had won at least 3 on the spin, and winning them more and more easily at the time of the stoppage.
Not sure how McKenzie is going to be that much fitter in a couple of months.
I thought fight one was a relative tough one to call based on Bellew's poor showing in the Ajisafe fight. For me it was one of the highlights (before the fights happend) of the PPV - now though I just think McKenzie had the chance and blew it.
I actually think a rematch with Ajisafe is a tougher fight, cause that is almost the opposite of the McKenzie fight. Ajisafe was the one who was winning the latter rounds.
