McDonnell v Jamoye tonight

Post by Old bones Ian »

Good fight to start the year, i didn't know much about Jamoye and thought he may of been an easy payday for McDonnell. But the more i look at his record and having seen a few clips of him , I think Mcdonell has a hard fight on his hands tonight.

Jamoye has proven to perform well away from home, he's a come forward boxer , throwing plenty of punches , the Belgian isn't a KO puncher but wears his opponents down.

Mcdonell will have a 6 inch height advantage , and will do well to keep Jamoye on the end of his punches. McDonnell is one of our brightest prospects, he seems to grow with every challenge , now we will see how he fairs when he faces someone as young and ambitous as him.

I'm looking forward to this one, i'm going for Jamie to win a UD after a tough fight.

I think Jamoye is far more capable of an upset than the last 2 guys. I think home advantage will suit McDonnell but wonder how his fans will be when it's not going so well. Should be interesting. He seems content to stand off at times and is a bit predictable with the single jab, overhand right but is pretty quick. I think McD can keep him busy with the jab and hopefully keep him off and away from the body.

the 3/1 on jamoye is very tempting for this but think McDonnell will just do enough to take it

Its interesting because we usually get a fall over job when the 1st fighter pulls out, but Jamoye is very much a live opponent.

Gonna be a good fight. I believe McDonnell wins but I also believe its a little closer then the betting lines indicate.

3 rounds gone, and 3 rounds to Carl, he's looked good so far, landed some good body shots on the tall Watson

He is dominating Watson but looks a bit too fleshy. Is he staying at 140 or is he planning on moving back down to Super-Feather or Lightweight?

edit: Adam Smith just answered my question, he is signed up to a English title fight against Ant Crolla in February at super-feather.

Yeah, hopefully he will get the weight done right, He's not looked to slow tonight though.

He has looked decent alright. Good fight to get rid of the ring rust before the Crolla fight.

I've said it already but I really think Jamoye is taller than the 5'2 Boxrec have him listed at and the height disparity between the two might not be as big as we think.

Yeah, figured he was around that after seeing the face-off at the weigh-in.

Oh were in for a good one by the looks of it.

Jamoye takes the first round for me, found his punches quicker and landed a couple of sharp rights. Good bit of toe to toe at the end of the round.

McDonnell comes out and lands a good one at the start of the round, but then Jamoye lands a big left hook, and almost floors Jamie. he manages to stay upright and holds and moves to ride it out, just!!

Jamoye 2 rounds up
