It looked like he was heading for a points loss but fair play he pulled the victory out of the bag with a good 10th and a spectacular 11th. Great win interms of the result and the ending but a very strange fight.

It was a very strange fight to watch. Thierry Karl had a long reach but was very cumbersome and made to miss alot. McIntosh timing was also off. The ref was very picky and against McIntosh, whose showboating didn't exactly endear him to the crowd.

Good to hear a positive spin mate. No one could disagree with it being a super away win. Brilliant stuff. Both boxers were shocking IMO though.Ben Carey wrote:I completely disagree with some of the criticism directed at McIntosh. This was a superb away victory for Danny (and at relatively short notice) against a decent fighter who was unbeaten in 8 fights who holds a 1st round win over the guy who gave Cleverly a tough fight last time out. McIntosh showed exactly the right attitude as an away fighter boxing for a European title and took the fight to Karl. Yes, he looked crude and was reckless at times but that's just how McIntosh fights - he's a risk taker.
He did showboat, moreso after halfway, but he never stopped trying, showed an excellent chin, great conditioning and kept on swinging. When he had his man hurt, he put him away. Karl was gone and I don't think he would have survived a follow-up attack had he made it to his feet and been allowed to continue.
Considering he's still raw and had only 13 fights this was a brilliant win for McIntosh. I'm well chuffed for him.

I really don't remember being as sloppy as that technically. He has all the tools to be a good boxer, a nice strong jab and a good left hook but he rarely uses it opting for swinging wildly! Great result though bring on MacIntosh-Bellew

No wonder Danny Mac was under par - Big Dom Ingle just told me that not only did the lad only have three weeks notice but he'd just recovered from flu too and, in Dominic's words 'was 50% at best'.
In that light, it's an even better win

Oh that does add a whole different complexion to the situation - well, still not a good performance but he did show some bottle to even take the fight. It certainly answers some questions about why he was so sloppy and looking tired in the mid rounds.Ian 'Mr' McNeilly wrote:No wonder Danny Mac was under par - Big Dom Ingle just told me that not only did the lad only have three weeks notice but he'd just recovered from flu too and, in Dominic's words 'was 50% at best'.

I really do like Mac and am over the moon for him. Imagine a fight between him and Bomber.

Ive not seen the fight and while i dont really rate mcIntosh im still glad he won , a british european champion is something we should all want , it will likely be the highest point of his career but cant see his reign lasting long , he may lose it at the first attempt if its Bellew he fights , but maybe he will want a couple of easy defences first

Scrappy fight but emphatic enough finish. Fair few landed round the back of the head too.

Under those circumstances in did really well to walk away with the title.
Re: McIntosh v Karl. Live and Exclusive only on Premier Sport TV
i thought he done allright :!: karl is pretty erratic & dangerous & i felt mac was landing the telling punches through out & thrustrating karl who's a decent fighter imo.
i felt the ref jumped in early at first but didnt stop it??the ref confused me god knows how karl felt :!:

mcintosh was poor, but credit has to go to him for going to France and winning the belt, he's got some defences in him but Hennessy NEEDS a Tv deal to push him on.

I think people are trying to forget how bad McIntosh was because it was such a good finish from him. Fact is he was bloody awful and outboxed for the majority of the fight by a fighter who looked very amateurish. McIntosh ate right hands all night and for 9 rounds he was more interested in talking, playing to the crowd and basically making himself look like a right clown. I gave him maybe 2-3 rounds at best. He would get hit and instead of throwing back he seemed to put more importance on making it clear to the crowd he wasn't bothered by it.
Ingle must have gave him some stern words because the way he came out for the tenth was the way he should have been fighting from the start. He needed to throw bombs because he was losing the fight...WIDELY! That is even without the stupid point deduction (protect yourself at all times) and a dodgy looking ref.
Mc deserves credit for going over to France and getting the W but if he fights like this and doesn't make some big improvements then he won't be a champion for very long.

Give the lad some credit he was given less than 4 weeks notice against a fighter who is ranked 8th by the WBC and WBA who demolished Cleverlys last opponent in 1 round. Also for 3 of those weeks he had flu which only cleared up the week of the fight. Apparently he got the call from his manager while still in bed ill and the next day set off to Sheffield to train for the fight. If McIntosh had the physical and mental strength to overcome these obstacles on away soil and come away with a KO victory, what is he capable of in the future?
He overcame a younger taller and much more experienced fighter who also outreached him and Karl had the referee on his side. Tactically he got the fight right by trying to box on the outside for the first few rounds and avoiding Karls big right hand and frustrating him and eventually out gaming the Frenchman.
For such an inexperienced raw fighter the result is good for british boxing.
