McDonnell v Jamoye tonight
Re: McDonnell v Jamoye tonight
Gave the last to Jamie great finish but scored 114-114
Re: McDonnell v Jamoye tonight
FFS...McDonnell hasn't half come on...if there's a fitter fighter in Britain than him, I'd be surprised.
What a scrap - hundreds of punches in the 12th!

Jamoye is 21!
I think we've seen 2 of the best world prospects at this weight just fight.
and the year has just begun

Great fight, good win for McDonnell.
His fans need to get a new song though. "Jamie McDonnell" doesn't fit into "Winter Wonderland".
Jamoye's a good little scrapper as well, will keep an eye out for his fights in the future.

Re: McDonnell v Jamoye tonight
Thought Carl Johannson looked really good in the appetiser. Will he be able to make the Super Feather limit. If yes, would love to see him vs Burns.
Re: McDonnell v Jamoye tonight
stuck my score on another thread 115-112 mcdonnell
Re: McDonnell v Jamoye tonight
Decent fight that, ref far too Continental fussy type but had his reasoning. I personally thought the scorecards not too far off. McDonnell lucky to escape with MD from where I was sitting, rocked in multiple rounds and contender for "fight too small for my height" crown from Paul Williams, WTF was he doing hooking with a hooker for round after round.
Jamoye really impressed me tonight with his speed and workrate, despite being a touch predictable with the 1-2 and hooks, I think he could well end his career holding a world title at bantam-super bantam. He can go home feeling a touch unfortunate and definitely hold his head high - he did what he could and can definitely come again and has more to give.

I was sat right next to the Belgians corner and they were fuming with the ref.Jamie did look guilty of pushing him off with his shoulder quite a bit though.Great fight though.Anyone know how Tommy Coyle got on?We had to leave after the main event.orbtastic wrote:Decent fight that, ref far too Continental fussy type but had his reasoning. Cracker of a fight! I had it 114-113 McDonnell, he boxed superbly in the middle rounds but his jab was terrible in the fight. He poked it out slowly and was always open to a right hand counter and most of the time Jamoye took advantage, he'll have to sort that out to get past Euro Level! Cracking fight though!

A truly fantastic fight.
Jamie was absolutely knackered when we got back to the dressing room - was very emotional - he actually thought he had not fought well - until he was put right. That Belgian was one tough bloke.
Bloody hell what a fight.

I went to get a drink and came back in to catch the last 2 rounds of Coyle's fight. He was banging away on a guy who definitely earnt his money (don't know his name, Paddy judging from his shorts), result didn't look in doubt and the fans were giving the oppo some stick. We had to leg it to catch a taxi but think it was the last round so didn't actually see the result but it looked like pts to me.mickey1975 wrote:I was sat right next to the Belgians corner and they were fuming with the ref.Jamie did look guilty of pushing him off with his shoulder quite a bit though.Great fight though.Anyone know how Tommy Coyle got on?We had to leave after the main event.orbtastic wrote:Decent fight that, ref far too Continental fussy type but had his reasoning. I saw him last time out there, he hit some kid with a huge body shot, it looked painful.
Re: McDonnell v Jamoye tonight
good fight i had it 114 - 113 in favour of McDonnell - It was on the last round. Jamoye was good fighter, wasnt expecting him to fighting someone as good.
Re: McDonnell v Jamoye tonight
That were an excellent bout between 2 well matched boxers. For me (watching on telly) Jamie nicked it by 1 or 2 but just about every round was contested and Jamoye had more power the first half of the bout. Both showed loads of bottle and fitness; they were a credit to themselves and their camps.
Carl Johannson looked good when he warmed up and got his timing down; the after bout interview with Crolla at his side was a delight; both lads showed class and respect to each other. That will be one to look forward to.
(I thought Johnny Greaves was down to box?)

Re: McDonnell v Jamoye tonight
Greaves pulled out with an injury, muscle pull I think? I can't remember exactly but it's on one of the other multiple threads about this bill. He was due to box Coyle.
Just a side point about this bill - What are peoples' opinions of the rise of football chants at boxing? I'm really not a fan, it really bugs me. Lot of Leeds and Rovers fans in last night.

Good line from our reporter re Jamoye: 'The only time I associate anything Belgian with this much fight it’s usually Stella-related.'
Re: McDonnell v Jamoye tonight
my support arrived early and left early because i booked there coaches for 4:45pm they got there at 6:20pm and i was getting out of the ring because i had finished my fight but on the tickets it said doors open at 6:30pm i was in the ring at 6:05pm!mickey1975 wrote:And Sunderland,Manchester and Hull! The Manchester and Sunderland lot left fairly early after their boxers fought(Foot,Flannigan and Farrell). The Hull supporters watching Coyle were the loudest but i didnt see any bother.orbtastic wrote:Greaves pulled out with an injury, muscle pull I think? Oh sure, no bother at all, wasn't suggesting that.mickey1975 wrote:And Sunderland,Manchester and Hull! Re: McDonnell v Jamoye tonight
I had to pull out after unfortunately pulling a muscle in my shoulder. It was genuine. & the first pull out of my career so far. Shame really as I have made a few changes to my lifestyle, & am looking to do myself & my talent justice this year!
Re: McDonnell v Jamoye tonight
yeh i sold 115 tickets and 1 coach load full missed the whole fight so got a coach to the doncaster dome had a pint and go a coach back to heywood!mickey1975 wrote:I was sat in the middle of them. Some only saw the last round.kierny wrote:my support arrived early and left early because i booked there coaches for 4:45pm they got there at 6:20pm and i was getting out of the ring because i had finished my fight but on the tickets it said doors open at 6:30pm i was in the ring at 6:05pm!mickey1975 wrote: And Sunderland,Manchester and Hull! The Manchester and Sunderland lot left fairly early after their boxers fought(Foot,Flannigan and Farrell). The Hull supporters watching Coyle were the loudest but i didnt see any bother.

really i should of been told in the morning that the fights was gonna start at 6pm, so i could of made alternatives for the coaches but i found out too late and couldnt change the times! but who's responsibility is it? it said on the tickets 6:30pm and it started at 6pm
Re: McDonnell v Jamoye tonight
I think it's a case of left hand right hand etc. The venue are continually clueless. I was told by the promoter on Friday that the doors open at 6. I had to arse about to get my tickets and in the end was asked to "just pick a seat".

haha nothing ever run's smooth at a show!
