Carl Johanssen vs Anthony Crolla

Post by TheCobra »

I thought Carl boxed quite well tonight, showed some of the reasons why he got to be a british champ. I saw enough tonight to suggest he will be a right little handful for Crolla, can't wait for this fight! I think Crolla can outbox him and use his improving strength to his advantage, but what a scrap this could be, the kind of matches I like to see getting made. Respect to Crolla he's fought some good opponents so far in his career.

I've been very impressed with Crolla lately. I think he will win an entertaining bout.

Tonight was kinda dull, CJ plodded forward and had to do what he had to do. Each round was a carbon copy of the first, the other guy not showing much ambition or skill beyond what he did. No disrespect intended but he didn't have any answer to anything CJ threw or feinted.

Should be a BFOTY contender! I see Crolla being strong enough to push Johannson back and take away his main strengths, forcing him on the back foot and landing plenty body shots. If Crolla can do that then I see him winning via a late stoppage or points. Should be good though

Its a good fight - but I think Carl has had his day - Crolla for me and by stoppage too.

Sums it up really, but Johansson will no doubt still have his power which should make it very interesting.

I've seen more of Carl than Crolla but both are class acts away from the ring; the interview after Carls bout last night was excellent. Carl looked strong, a decent showing after such a long time out. The Crolla bout will be one to look forward to.

Think Crolla has really come on and will win by about 5-6 rounds.

Crolla has been looking great over the past year. I think I would give him the nod.

Whilst I thin Carl looked good last night - I honestly believe if he doesnt bomb an opponent out in the first few rounds then his power diminishes a lot and thus a good thinking boxer like Crolla could take him apart in the latter rounds.

Ricky Burns couldn't manage it - I do worry about the weight making though. He looked small, but not exactly flabby at Light Welter.

As a side note, I must say that CJ's opponent last night was the recipient of (IMO) the worst points decision by a ref in a british ring last year against dwyer!

carl looked strong & solid & if i was crolla id feel pretty confident as he was at light welter :!: he'd murder crolla at that weight but coming down to 9,4 he's gonna struggle badly in the later rds.

I'd fancy Crolla in this one. CJ has had alot of tough fights it might end up catching up with him. Maybe a bit of Alex arthur syndrome spending too much time at 9st 4? Crolla's the fresher in form fighter i'd go for him to stop Cj in the middle rounds.

Carl only weighed in at just under 10st because he eased off training in the last two week. His nutritionist had him on schedule to reach 9st 6lbs for the Bhatia fight but when Kash pulled out and they knew they were gonna get another 10st fight, they took their foot off the gas.
