I think the whole Haye/Booth saga is a strange one, and all they've done in recent times, is put of any potential fighters that may have wanted to join their stable.

Why George Groves, chooses to be involved with them still is beyond me.

well aside from booths personality i dont rate him as a trainer much either! If groves has any sense he'll join another camp where they'll iron out his flaws which dont seem to be really getting sorted out and I genuinely believe that in terms of pure abilty there is very little between groves and degale but degale is schooled better!

I think he takes on too much on tbh.

I know the thought process of him and Haye is that if there is only two of us the pot is only split two ways but I've always been of the opinion that a trainer, manager, promoter, cutsman, tea lady etc. etc. should each be done by different people who are specialist in that field as opposed to Adam Booth who seems to cover most of those mentioned.

I've recently sent an email to Hayemaker clothing in regards to a hoodie enquiry as it happens, I wouldn't be too surprised if my reply comes from Adam Booth..

Jack of all trades master of none springs to mind.

everyones entitled to there own opinion and so am i, i couldent DISAGREE any more with the previous posts, i think adam booth is a great man to have on your side during a fight, his extremley cool and calm under pressure no matter what has happened in the last round. he talks sense and to me comes across as honest and says it how it is, maybe his boxing knowledge isnt as good as some other trainers but im sure his the first to admit his still learning, i think groves being around adam and haye is a good thing, i dont think he has the beating of degale just yet no matter who his with. i look forward to watching hayemaker promotions get stronger.

i still believe to this day that the klistchos dont want to fight david haye on a 50/50 split for everything, they are the ones demanding stupid rematch clauses to the contract, they have never dealt with anyone who brings as much to the table as haye. lennox lewis v vitali was a bigger fight but they wernt controlling the heavyweight scene back then.

He's alright, but he knows it (and possibly thinks too much of it). As a psychologist, it is a bit of a bug bearer these people who think they are the kings of Psychology but not have any insight into the world of applied Psychology.

Making his money yes, but I think he needs a far more humble approach when on TV. What he does in the corner work is fine, but what I mean is the "looks" he gives when in debates with team Harrison, team Klitchsko and before that team Maccarinelli - it smacks of arrogance.

That is one thing I will give the Franks all the credit in the world for - despite achieving some fantastic feats in promoting some of the best fighters and biggest events in the UK - both, at least on TV, give the impression that their feet are on the ground and they are humble.

I don't hold a really strong opinion about him. I saw him on a Ringside and was impressed with how he came across; he was gracious and knew his stuff. I think he's doing something right; he's not come up the same as most other managers/trainers but it looks to be working for the boxers he has. Either Haye or Groves could pick from any trainer they wanted. (Booth came across as being the sort to be able to get specialised knowledge from another without it hurting his ego).

I really like Booth he really knows his stuff and is technically one of the best trainers in Britian. He talks sense but sometimes he does seem a bit sneaky over the Haye-Klitschko saga.

very good in the corner indeed, precise cool calm and calculated.
Read war baby recently and some of the stuff on how you get through to a fighter is very poignient, they have 40 secs at most to get a message accross scremaing and shoutiong will not achieve this.

For my mind this is where booth (and roach also) is excellent.

Out of the corner maybe I dont have quite the same admiration, he does seem to be one of these people who looks self satisifed permanently..however this could just be a personailtiy trait perceived that way rather than any firm factual basis...

fact is haye likes him the style works for him so that in itself makes him of use and effective.

booth is a nice enough person, but he is in for the short haul & is burning all bridges behind him because he does not plan to cross them again as he's hit jackpot & know's lightning wont strike twice.

haye talking on retirement is a joke, he claims to be a saviour earns a nice few quid untested & claims wlad's legacy is in danger :!: haye is sitting in his ivory tower & goe's out his way convincing the general public who are clueless it aint down to him :!: & even some knowledgeable fan's shockingly.
booth & haye are playing hard ball & are getting found out wlad does opt for the best which is on offer he is now looking at adamek who has haye in mind?? i guarantee he swerves chagaev on medical terms.

Yeah, although I do think a good rocketing is what some fighters need some of the time. I normally love Roach's corner work, and its a good comparison you make. However, I did feel Roach let Hopkins vs Calzaghe down quite badly in his corner - yes, I actually agreed that Hopkins had a lead, but it was too close to call either way - Roach was far too calm and I Hopkins was convinced that he was a clear winner.

Also I remember the Pettronelli's (spelling) with the least urgent cornerwork I've ever seen for Hagler vs Leonard. It was so negative, like they've given up..... "Its the last round now..... and we need it bad" (but in such a relaxed tone).

I do have a bit of a pet hate about this colour shite that is supposed to represent strategies, that team Hayemaker use. All this trying to be psychology babble. Whether its just made up to get the opponent worried or not, whatever it is - wouldn't be recommended by any applied sport psychologists. Don't need superstitions, and the charge should be in perfect shape, and ready for a guy 100% on his game, shouldn't even need to try and play mind games.

I think your spot on mate. I really cannot stand him, his arrogance is unbeleivable, and for what reason. Someone tell me what exactly has he really achieved to give him this supreme arogance. Its a shame that most british boxers with talent are arrogant, Carl Froch, Amir Khan, James Degale and David Haye are probably the best 4 british boxers around at the minute, but all completely arrogant. We need more Calzaghe's and hattons about, luckily Nathan Cleverly fits that bill. Sorry for coming away from the point a bit, its just that arrogance seems to be a trend in british boxing at the minute.

He comes across as smug and self-satisfied, and his face looks like it's made of plasticine, but he's a good cornerman from what I've seen...

Haye hasn't had too many long nights of late so it's difficult to comment on whether he's truly made inroads with his stamina etc.

I don't think Haye will retire this year, they love the spotlight too much

He`s got a shifty look about him.

To me he is businessman first, trainer second. Nothing wrong with that I suppose, but I can very much understand how he rubs people up the wrong way.

I imagine the closers they bring in to sell timeshares are Boothlike types. Confident bloke though.

Have to admit that during the Eddie Hearn debate Booth did look a bit like Bo Selecta with the facial gurning to the camera.

To his credit he is a master at negotiating his fighters OUT of big fights.

He's a very hard man to judge really - so confident and fancies himself. He's done well, so a big part of me is saying.... well hell, why not.

No doubt he is an intelligent bloke, but he gives the impression he is a master businessnman and trainer and whatever thing else he does. Can see why you think he is a businessman first, trainer second - not sure if it is really the case - it is the impression he leaves.

Excellent observation. Rock Newman and Riddick Bowe had the same sort of short term blueprint.
