Are there any inconvenient Holyfield/Tyson pictures from my perspective?

No, but then, we've been over this before. I'd expect that to change had they met in their primes, & you do not.

Telling
Results of the actual fights are pretty convenient when assessing who would win, almost too convenient to be considered or taken that seriously.

It was the actual fight, but would you assess either man to be at his peak for it?
Don't get me wrong, I see what Saad is saying. He feels Holyfield's advantages which led to Tyson's downfall in 1996 would be permanent deciding factors in any fight, & I don't.

Re: Tyson V Holyfield, Lewis, And Douglas
Tyson never had the heart to deal with prime Holyfield. Holyfield is tough & too physically strong.
Lewis '95 also beats him IMO. Lewis post McCall 1 was a much less reckless fighter & would have used he enourmous physical strength to wear Tyson out. Prime Tyson was all too willing to fall into clinches & seemed unable to do anything about it. If he did that with the massively strong Lewis, he'd have been worn out aft 9 rounds or so.
Tyson '88 Douglas. The Tyson of 1990 just didn't do the same thing as the the '88 version, even though the timeframe is so small.

Re: Tyson V Holyfield, Lewis, And Douglas
The Psyche is such a big part of the story here. Tyson has a chance against Holy, ONLY when he himself believes he is invincible. He wins under NO other circumstances. And with Holy, Tyson COULD lose confidence mid stream, and end his chances. (Talking prime vs prime) Holy SHOULD beat him under almost any circumstances IMHO, but if Tyson doesn't know that, then Tyson has the shot.

I think Tyson knew he couldn't beat him from the minute they met.

Might as well paint Holyfield as bullet-proof. Anything this fella couldn't do? Aside from convincingly defeat Riddick Bowe, that is...or 42-year-old versions of Larry Holmes & George Foreman. LOL.
No one who gets hit as much as he did is a shoo-in against Tyson.

Yeah, I definitely pick him over every mythical opponent. God forbid over someone he completely dominated when people feared for his life and then made quit in a rematch. LOL.
Tyson would need a gun to win, even then it's 50/50.

Didn't you also say words to the effect that he would walk over Quarry as well?SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Yeah, I definitely pick him over every mythical opponent. God forbid over someone he completely dominated when people feared for his life and then made quit in a rematch. LOL.

When it comes to boxers & boxing, no fighter knows more about the sport than than Tyson.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:I think Tyson knew he couldn't beat him from the minute they met.
He knew very early on in the first fight that he could not beat Holyfield.
Holyfield would never allow himself to be intimidated by Tyson & that goes for '88 Tyson as well.

I don't agree with the idea Quarry is dramatically beneath Holyfield.

All we have is our opinions but expert opinion ranks Jerry Quarry significantly below Evander Holyfield.

We're talking about a fight, not historical rankings.ThatOne wrote:All we have is our opinions but expert opinion ranks Jerry Quarry significantly below Evander Holyfield.

And we picked the same fighter, what in the world is your point?Goodnight, Irene wrote:We're talking about a fight, not historical rankings.ThatOne wrote:All we have is our opinions but expert opinion ranks Jerry Quarry significantly below Evander Holyfield.
Re: Tyson V Holyfield, Lewis, And Douglas
I would argue that Holyfield is ranked so much higher than Quarry in historical ratings because he is such a better fighter and that fact would become obvious if the two ever met.Goodnight, Irene wrote:We're talking about a fight, not historical rankings.ThatOne wrote:All we have is our opinions but expert opinion ranks Jerry Quarry significantly below Evander Holyfield.
I just don't see Quarry faring very well against Holyfield.

Jerry was a high level offensive fighter, he would certainly have his moments. But the end result would be a bloody loss.

That you grossly over-rate Holyfield.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:And we picked the same fighter, what in the world is your point?Goodnight, Irene wrote:We're talking about a fight, not historical rankings.ThatOne wrote:All we have is our opinions but expert opinion ranks Jerry Quarry significantly below Evander Holyfield.

How much better than Quarry was Moorer? How much better than Quarry was Cooper? How much better than Quarry were washed-up versions of Foreman & Holmes?ThatOne wrote:I would argue that Holyfield is ranked so much higher than Quarry in historical ratings because he is such a better fighter and that fact would become obvious if the two ever met.Goodnight, Irene wrote:We're talking about a fight, not historical rankings.ThatOne wrote:All we have is our opinions but expert opinion ranks Jerry Quarry significantly below Evander Holyfield.

I wouldn't rule that out as true. Is bringing up a discussion that we shared the same opinion the best way to point that out? I never said he would walk all over Quarry. Just that he would beat him and I disagreed when Buzz said Jerry would bring more than Evander could deal with.Goodnight, Irene wrote:That you grossly over-rate Holyfield.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:And we picked the same fighter, what in the world is your point?Goodnight, Irene wrote: We're talking about a fight, not historical rankings.
