Yes I completely agree - Matthew Hatton has done fabuously well - some will argue overachieved.

But I simply do not rate Shannon above:

Gallagher
Farnell
McCracken

And certainly nowhere near Brendan
I don't know much about the other trainers but I have been under a few over the years. I was working in Manchester for a few weeks a couple of years ago and I decided I would do a bit of trainning while I was there. I ended up in Shannon gyms just outside the city centre. I learned more in a few weeks with him than what I did with others in years. Maybe we just clicked, I don't know. He looks at your physhical make up and helps you to develop your style round it. His enthusiasm is great, he works hard with the guys and he makes sure you get at least ten minutes of his attention even if your not from his gym. Don't get me wrong I have disagreed with some of his comments to fighters in the corner but nobody is perfect.
I forgot to mention he works full time as well, painter & decorator I think.

Aye right mate, he took Kevin Anderson on and turned him into a slow, one punch machine, totally ruined the guy. Military trainng doesnt work for pro athletes, anyone who thnks differently does not know what they are talking about, simple
Anderson was shot to pieces well before he went to Bob

I like Oliver Harrison and Brendan Ingle.

They tend to work with what they got, looking to improve on it.

Rob McCracken is also coming along nicely.

Anderson shot to pieces? What was he - 24 or something? And actually did better in the McIntyre rematch than in fight one.

Not shot, gone stale maybe but that could have been rectified.

Stale, and terrible against southpaws, Magee aside. Anderson raved about Bob but he wasn't up to McIntyre's style.
And Magee was shot to pieces and I scored the fight alot closer than most.

Best trainer is Jim McDonnell - Look at Herbie Hyde - Danny Williams - James Degale all went on to great things, James still to go on to great things. One thing with Jimmy is he won't take you on if he feels you are not going to make it, he will only train future world champions, also not everyone can survive the training programmes he sets his boxers. I hear he still runs with his boxers every morning and even at 50 he still leaves them standing. If you want to get to the top in my opinion Jimmy is the man, and his back up team are second to none.

If he was my son I'd put him with Brian, because his lads can all keep their chin tucked away, are fit, well-balanced fighters with good basics.

The best trainer in the uk for me is Brendan Ingle as he as took kids from scratch and helped make them world champions european champions british champions, other than naz also from scratch was jonny nelson and he had a bad am record got slated all his career but ended up a world champion for a long time, now what british trainer can beat that pedigree?
