David Tua vs Earnie Shavers...... *DROOLS*
What a match up, but who wins?
I'll go for Tua by stoppage after a scare.

This would be a fun fight.
Sure Tua could KO Shavers, from the 1st bell.
I guess Shavers will get to Tua at some point and KO him. Shavers had the power to do it. Tua has never been hit as hard as shavers would hit him. Not an easy fight to pick. But I choose ES.

Shavers definitely had the power to hurt any Heavyweight ever no question about that, but I'm not sure Shavers would be able to knock out Tua. Shavers would definitely edge the first 5 rounds or so, but after that I figure Tua would turn it on as he was known to do and stop Shavers sometime around the 10th round. It would be an amazing fight for sure though.

Shavers has the edge in two-handed power and a small advantage in boxing ability, Tua has a definite edge in chin. Could go either way, but I'm pretty sure this one ends early and I'm going to go with Tua by KO in round 2.

The real question of this thread is: Why would anyone drool over two men in a ring?
Of course, there is an obvious answer to this question.

Depends on which Tua showed up. If it was the Bulldozer I think he would run Shavers over. If it was the lazy passive Tua then Shavers would catch him. Shavers only fought at around 209 lbs. I don't know what he would do with the Tuanator.

Tua was a smaller man than Shavers, if Tua had ever been in the type of shape Earnie was he would've weighed 210 as well. Even in the low 220s Tua looked pretty soft.kwillymac wrote:Depends on which Tua showed up. If it was the Bulldozer I think he would run Shavers over. This fight would be all about Earnie's stamina. People have it all wrong, no way Tua knocks him out early, Shavers had a very good chin. He got hurt when he'd punch himself out and then get exhausted. If Earnie does that, Tua gets him late. If Earnie fights smarter and paces himself, like he did vs Ali, he'll win a decision. But Shavers could always end it at anytime too. Roy Williams had a Tua-like chin and he succombed to a Shavers who was practically out on his feet . . .

To some extent, I agree with this. At one time, Tua was a very aggressive fighter who looked like he woul;d be really good. This version would have a serious chance against Shavers. He might bulldoze him; he might not. It would have been a wild fight and almost anything could have happened.kwillymac wrote:Depends on which Tua showed up. However from the Lewis fight on Tua was lazy. He ssemed to be just looking to be looking for a knockout by just throwing a big left hook once or twice a round. This version would have been chopped down by Shavers and would not have been competitive.

Tua wins for me.
Shavers could be stopped, whereas Tua hasn't been KOd to date & has only been floored twice.
Saying that, Shavers did compete in the most diffcult HW era of all time, so it's no surprise he lost a few.
