Pacquiao is a loyal and humble guy.

When word reaches him that Khan's unsavoury and common crew have burgled HIS team member, it will go down like a shit sandwich.

Throw in the fact they have dicked Ariza's cash about and cutting corners with disclosing purses and generally being a greedy SOB, Pacquiao wont be impressed.

Ariza is a celebrity in his own right in the Philippines.

Let's face facts - Khan has been riding Pacquiao's coat tails since he landed in L.A. and has gathered lots of cross-over Pacman fans in the process.

They'll all turn on him, Team Pacquiao and all his fans for shafting 'one of their own'.

Probably a bit of wishful thinking there Gomez.
still..

Very surprised Roach is supposed to have arranged to bring in another guy. It has me thinking of the situation between Hatton/Graham/Kayes

You may well be right Lefty but I tried to phrase it nicely by saying "the controlling situation he finds himself in" I think there is a situation here that Khan for his own personal reasons will never deal with
You have a feeling that in yrs to come he's going to probably regret letting them manage him just like naz did after his career was over.In the very short term khans teams are doing a good job in paying peanuts to his opponents but in the long run other promotional outfits and managers arent going to want to work with them and khans image will also go down the toilet.
at the end of the day if you the best then you have to pay for it the khan's will shoot them selves in the foot just like team naz did

I have to say, by the sounds of it you may be right mate. What a shame. Family and business don't mix. I believe Ariza has had a major impact on Khan's recent successes. This along with the McCloskey affair are making Khan's team sound like a right nightmare to deal with, with regards to money.

Exactly. I have quite a few Asian pals and aquaintences and the family plays a huge part in their lives. Some, as you say, have very little control over the major decisions in their own lives.

I have to say if Ariza's claims are true then this is truly disgusting and the man to suffer most will be Khan.

He's not an asian woman being forced into marriage now is he! He's a grown man,he's not a little kid and its not like he relies on his family for money, etc and thus they hold some kind of power over him.

He will be under tremendous pressure from all angles. He will actually have little choice in it.

I might be wrong, someone correct me, but I believe he still lives with his parents?

of course he has a choice, the choice is if he doesnt want his family managing his career then they dont.obviously there will be consequencies of that in that certain members of his family might not want any contact with him but thats amirs decision.Or he could just let them screw up his career.

[quote="mugabi"] as for arize hes a glorified cheerleader guys like khan and pac make him look better than he is.

I very much doubt that Arize would be training arguably the P4P best in world boxing among other top talents in a notoriously competitive gym if he didn't earn his keep.

Amir seems to be earning top dollar; if he gets shut of a key team member he may be 'penny wise pound foolish'.

There are other points in your post that I disagree with but I can't be arsed; there are others on here that will rip it to pieces better than I could.

Blimey, that is some accusation!

One hopes and trusts he has copies of the contracts if that is the case.

Sounds a bit bizarre though.

Khan's conditioning has improved massively and was a huge factor in his win over Maidana - if that's down to Ariza, they should be looking to give him a pay rise.

there is another conditioner in the wildcard called micheal vale and he is very good and will probably get the job with Khan. And no way is Ariza overated. he knows his stuff inside out, trust me

Khan did himself a massive favour in going to the Wildcard and submitting to the regime; it seems folly to alter a winning formula. If things go awry he will kick himself (there are shades of Naseem here).

Somebody said it earlier: they're being penny wise and pound stupid. To get the best out of such a talent, you need to surround him with the best of everything: The best tacticians, the best training environment, the best nutrition, the best physical trainers -- the best everything. You don't skimp on getting the best, and Ariza seems like one of the best. Of course, there's always that old F1 connundrum, is it the car or the driver, but it seems to be that when you've got a winning formula, especially one that has made such brazen improvements, you stuck with it.

But there's something more at play here. Something that ran through with the Hattons and the Hameds. It seems that they are so ridiculously tight fisted that it goes beyond rapacious greed and more toward paranoia. The break in, if true, was certainly an example of that.

My only theory is that everyone knows that boxing is brim full of swindlers, shysters, con-men, hucksters and characters like Don King and Bob Arum who'll have your wedding ring while you're shaking hands. It's obvious that these guys are greedy and incompetent, but I wonder whether they're also self-conscious of how inexperienced they are in the mean world of boxing, and they want to show they're not pushovers.

That is as far as my thinking takes me, because it seems to go beyond plain avarice.

it seems to me that it's not so much Khan, it's the people around him (family) that are causing all the agg , the same thing happened with the Hattons & the Hamed's the people trying to guide them have no clue on how boxing works , they go on about fighters turning fights down but if you pay peanuts you get monkey's,

Khan's "handlers" have been like this from the start. When he first turned pro it was all "you wanna piece of the kid, you gotta pay". He's being milked like a brown swiss and while i struggle to believe that he doesn't realise it, it is always difficult when family are involved. But he needs to ask himself - who do I need more, Alex Ariza or that nobhead "business manager"?

That's what I would have thought too. Mind you, his conditioning has always been good, IMO.
