We'll be leaving in a while to Rose Hills Cemetery. Today would have been my grandson Nathan's 10th birthday. My daughter Meranda is having a small "birthday party" for him. It's going to be a tough day for my daughter.

Myself and Eline lost our first attempt at a baby a few weeks before it was due and that was tough enough on both of us, so i can only imagine how it feels like to lose a child you have got to know..

Baby's . . .

My God Daughter Kami, daughter of my ex Karla, gave birth to a baby girl last week.
Karla and I have remained close over the years, she was my first love and was with me thruout my boxing career and knew both Johnny Flores and Mel Epstein very well. We parted ways as a couple many years ago, but when she had her first child in 1977, I became her daughter's God Father. My God daughter Kami and I had an instant bond, and thruout the years spent a lot of time together, she was very close with my daughters and family, as well. Today I met her little daughter, and Kami asked if I would one day teach the little girl to box as I did her when she was little. The baby's name is Aurora Gabrielle Murdock, and her paternal grandfather, David Murdock, owns Dole Pineapple, as well as the Hawaiian Island of Lanai. So it appears this little one should have a lot opportunities. Of course, "Uncle Rick" is just a working guy like the rest of her family, but can teach her how to throw a punch a lot better then her rich Grandpa. :OhYes: In July, I too will have my first grandchild, but this darling little new born has captured my heart. Today I brought her a present, pink boxing gloves! :TU:
Monica snapped a few photos which I will post soon.

Randy, when I posted above about my God Daughter's new born, I had not seen your post about your daughter losing her child.
This turned my personal joy into sadness for your family. My heart goes out to you and your family. May God bless you all.

Your friend, Rick

And all around nice guy, Chris Arreola

"Much Ado About Nothing". That pretty much sums up Chris Arreola's performance last night against Joey Abell. Arreola, stopped Joey Abell in the first round last night after a fairly competitive two minutes. I thought Abell should have been let to continue. He didn't seem to be that hurt when the ref stopped the fight. Still, they finally found the perfect fighter (and referee) for Arreola. The fight itself can't seriously be considered anything but a confidence builder.

Arreola has a new trainer in Ronnie Shields. Shields is a fine trainer. Maybe there is till hope for Arreola
Reason #765 why the fighters of today turn people off to boxing,my self included. Simply disgraceful. I would think any boxing commission that had the guts, would suspend this guy for just this action. These guys probably couldn't care less. Poster picture for anyone who wants to merge the MMA with Boxing on fight cards !
The "Witch Doctor" will be calling . . .

Chris Arreola is repulsive, no class, little talent. The only thing he can boast of is a wealth of stupidity. There is no hope for this lazy fat ass.
I think he should be banned from the microphone of any boxing broadcast.
We all know what bad language is, and we all know that there is no place for it on a boxing broadcast.
Too bad somebody didn't teach this ignorant bastid words that begin with letters other than "F".
I put a "career-ending injury" hex on Antonio Margarito, now I will play which doctor once again put one on this embarrassment.  :oo
Where is Jerry Quarry when we need him? :witzend:

Rick, thank you and everyone else too, for the kind words. It's been years since my grandson died, I know, but for Meranda it will always be fresh, especially on his birthday, death date and the holidays. Jeri and I just do our best to support her and be there for her. I'm not alone, it's happened to a lot of people. We deal with it but certain dates are special.

Thank you Friends!

Losing a son or daughter is hard Randy, its not suppose to be like that, we are suppose to bury our parents, then our children bury us, but it doesn't always work out that way. I pray that you, your family and your daughter find comfort in knowing that your grandson is in a better place. God bless you and yours.

Don't know if I ever mention this but, Connie and I lost a son, Gilbert, in 1968....

When it comes to class . . .

Q- What's the difference between Chris Arreola and Floyd Mayweather Jr.???

A- Nothing. Neither has anything related to class.
The only difference between the two is color, size, and talent. Chris Arreola has no boxing talent or discipline.

I'm embarrassed that's he is a West Coast version of a heavyweight contender.
As much as I dislike the Klitschko brothers, I would root for either to defeat this bum. :OhYes:

I'm starting to warm a bit to the Klitschkos. You have to say they get themselves into great shape for every fight, which cannot be said of someone like Arreola or, horror of horrors, Audley Harrison.
Happy bithday, Rick.

So Sorry Randy. No amount of years can wash away the memories of lost loved ones;especially those who are children. They remain right beside us on another plane being watched over by our loved ones gone before us.God Bless.

I received this in a PM, Rick, any thought about Frankie Sedillo?

I know virtually nothing about boxing really, but you have some posts on here about remembering some matches that Frankie Sedillo was in... I was wondering if there was anywhere I can find more stuff on him or if you could tell me some of the things that you remember... He was my grandpa and he was murdered before I was born, I am just trying to find out more about his life.

Thank you

Makes it hard to hold the pads for a puncher, but what the hell, I use a brace.
Thanks to all for the kind birthday wishes! You guys are my extended family. :TU:
