Harrison.

Not many fighters have had to endure 20000 pissed up Mancs screaming ''you're sh1t and you know you are......'' at them.

Joe Bugner and Jack Bodell were two who used to get some real stick. The boxers who tend to get the most abuse tend to be the loudest so Jack Bodell wasn't deserving of the level of abuse he got. (Nor was Bugner I suppose though he always liked to talk a good fight)

The crap Harrison gets is richly deserved in my opinion.

Definitely Audley in the last 20 years. Although I understand what Carlos is saying about the stick being deserved, the level of hate towards him going into the ring against Haye was truly scary - this is a British Olympic champion! And, understandably, it was even worse coming out.

Joe Bugner used to be very unpopular; in his pomp Eubank used to be hated by most 'men in the street'.

On a milder note - I seem to remember whenever Chris Eubank was on his ringwalks on occasions he got the bird - but there again he loved it.

Jack Johnson and Muhammad Ali were hated far more than Audley Harrison ever has been.

Audley has had a rough time over the years; Hector Camacho (after the Rosario bout) took a lot of flak but I don't think he gave a hoot; I think Audley is overly concerned.

A hundred thousand Africans chanting Ali bomaye!.............. in the Rumble in the Jungle fight against Foreman. Must be close to the top of fighters getting the worst stick from fans ? :o

That was in Africa when Foreman had flown in with the dog the police used to suppress the population. By then he had won over a lot of people anyway, at points in his career he was definitely hated. He's a great example of someone turning from a villain to a hero. Jack Johnson would be my shout though, he acted in a way which wasn't expected by a black man in America in those times.

Hugh Mcillvanney's book Mcillvanney on Boxing has a good piece about Bodell, centred around his defeat to Henry Cooper. It does make reference to a certain amount of derision toward Bodell, but sympathetically.

Yeah but if you talk like harrison did before every fight and then not deliver time after time then you're asking for trouble!

That's what a lot of people who don't like Naseem say.

One defeat against a legend when you haven't been training properly isn't the sort of thing that leads me to ignore a fighters achievements. I wouldnt ignore Barrera's achievements because he was beaten by Khan. Naz was incredible, 31 ko's from 34 fights going into the Barrera fight. Who knows what he could have done had he stuck with Brendan Ingle, however, he did enough in the ring to deserve better than being solely and continually judged on one fight.
