I know virtually nothing about boxing really, but you have some posts on here about remembering some matches that Frankie Sedillo was in... I was wondering if there was anywhere I can find more stuff on him or if you could tell me some of the things that you remember... He was my grandpa and he was murdered before I was born, I am just trying to find out more about his life.
Thank you

I remember the Sedillo family, I believe they were from the Chino area?
There was Frankie and Bobby, I'll have to rattle my memory a bit and then will post more.
Another kid who fought with them was Richard Armendariz, same stable.
As I mentioned before, I remember the Sedillo brothers and a quick look at his record brought to mind his fights with Frankie Crawford, Bobby Valdez, Davey Contreras and others. Let me just say that Frankie Sedillo was a much better fighter than his record indicates. He fought some tough fighters and gave them all a very good go. Frankie was a featured prelim boxer at the Olympic back in the earliest days of the KTLA Ch.-5 television broadcasts.

More on Frankie Sedillo: I was with my dad at this great 1966 card at the L.A Sports Arena.
Every fight was a good one and I recall watching Teamster Gym featherweight Davey Contreras improve his unbeaten streak with a win over Sedillo.

I believe that Bobby Sedillo & Frankie Sedillo were brothers. Like Frankie, this guy was pretty good and even scored a win over Felipe Torres early in Torres career. Hopefully this info helps Frankie's grandson piece together his grandfather's boxing career. If there is any way he can locate a Richard Armendariz (who fought out of the same Chino stable) perhaps more inside information can be obtained. I recall Richard fighting amateur in the mid-60's, then turning pro in L.A. He didn't go to far, but he was good enough to spark my memory. I'm open to help in anyway possible. -Rick Farris

Frank, I hope you feel better soon. Thanks for posting those pictures for me, I knew you were not feeling well earlier in the week. I was wondering if you, Randy or any of the guys have visited the Gene Autry Western Heritage Museum near the Griffith Park Zoo? It's really a treasure trove of Western history. Victor French hosted his Funeral party there more than twenty years ago and I recall walking thru the exhibits and seeing one that featured Michael Landon and the Bonanza cast. Landon was at the party, and when I told his son, Mike Jr. what I had found. Junior grabbed his father and took him in to show him. Landon just smiled, shrugged his shoulders and said, "How nice." That was "The Dude" for you.
Rick Farris and his old sparring partner, .... What's his name? Oh, yeah, some guy named Ruben Olivares.
Happy Birthday Rick, I think Mel would be pleased that after all these years you and I have become real friends. Your grandfather would be proud of the man you've become! You're a good guy Rick, I hope you have a great day.

Losing a son or daughter is hard Randy, its not suppose to be like that, we are suppose to bury our parents, then our children bury us, but it doesn't always work out that way. I pray that you, your family and your daughter find comfort in knowing that your grandson is in a better place. God bless you and yours.
Don't know if I ever mention this but, Connie and I lost a son, Gilbert, in 1968....
Yes Frank, you did tell me and it was you I was thinking of when I said I'm not alone. My heart goes out to you, Connie and your family. Sometimes life can be hard and cruel but mostly it's good. We just keep putting one foot in front of the other and keep on keeping on. God Bless you and your family. I'll say a prayer for Gilbert tonight.

Randy, I didn't mention this earlier, but your grandaughter Mariah is a doll!
As I was reading this post, Monica walked by and saw that cute little girl and made the same comment.
Despite this family tragedy, you are a blessed man.

Paul . . . You are one of us, kid! A young man in an old man's body, or something like that.
I look forward to meeting you, as well! Maybe you can help push some us old foggies around in our wheelchairs?
I was happy to hear from the grand daughter of Frankie Sedillo.
I wish I could have provided more info on her Grandpa's career.
However, she appreciated the little I was able to provide, which shows a positive side of what we do here.
This is for the boxers. We remember them, and won't let them be forgotten!

Good Morning Frank, Hi Bennie . . .
Thanks to all my friends for making this past weekend a memorable one.
You guys are great!
