How would Khan do against Bradley/Alexander

Post by UpperCrust »

After last nights fight I was wondering if anyone had changed there opinions on what would happen for Khan against Alexander/Bradley.

I was unimpressed with Alexander. Not only did he cope poorly against Bradleys's pressure but he showed a worryingly lack of heart I thought. When a fighter gets a cut in the majority of cases (imo) they are continuously insisting to the doctor/corner they are fine to continue where as Alexander seemed content for the fight to be stopped (theres talk of the loser of this against Maidana- I actually think Maidana beats Alexander based on last night)

Bradley was what I expected, awkward, lots of pressure- at least Amir won't have to worry about the clash of heads but I still think he would beat him.

Khan to clear up imo.

After the first three or so rounds I was thinking that Khan would have big trouble against both.

As the fight progressed, I could see Khan outscoring both quite easily. Bradley became predictable and moved in straight lines, and I'd feel Khan would pick Alexander off.

Bradley is the harder fight, because he's so hard to hit cleanly, and looks to have a good engine, but I feel Khan would figure him out.

I dont think you can judge how a khan vs bradley fight would go based on last nights performance as like i said in another thread i think bradley struggled with the southpaw stance of alexander.

Alexander has taken himself out of the game not just because he refused to fight on but because the ref had to rescue him after the first head clash when he was cut. As far as I'm concerned Bradley had every right to walk over and finish him off but the ref bailed Alexander out.

Khan vs Bradley would be a must see. Since Khan went to Roach he has lost the "protected fighter" status and his fights are exciting and even. I say Khan has harder and more accurate punches so if he can aviod Bradleys head he wins.

I think both Bradley and Alexander could beat him, Bradley is so adaptable and is very good at cutting the ring off and putting his opponents in corners, I think he could jab with Khan before coming in with his fast combinations putting Khan against the ropes. I see Bradley winning on points. As for Alexander if he could get a bit more pop in his jab and get more aggression going like against Kotelnik and Urango then inthink he would give Amir hell, he is as fast as Amir and could again get him into corners and not give up, I think Alexander could potentially stop Khan but I could also see Khan outboxing him to a decision this is a tough one to call

I think Khan punches a lot straighter than Alexander and would beat him to the punch. Has much better footwork imo too.

I don't see how Alexander would be able to beat Khan, in a styles-make-fights kind of way. I mean, how's he going to take points of Khan? Everything he does, Khan does that bit better: hand speed, accuracy -- Khan has the advantage. Also, the way Alexander backs off, but still plants his feet with a wide stance, he's going to be out there to hit, and Khan looks to have the longer reach (whether that's an illusion, I don't know, but that's how it looks), and Khan certainly lets his hands go earlier and more often, so I suspect that he would get his punches off first, and that edge in hand speed would mean Alexander wouldn't be able to counter the way he likes.

Khan is just as busy as Bradley, in a different way, and I think that Alexander is the type of fighter who wants to fight at his pace, to pick his fast punches.

Further, from a different view, just pure quality, Alexander has come up short, really, the last two times that he's stepped up in class. Kotelnik was a very close fight that he probably should have lost, and Bradley had the better of him, too.

Bradley would be a different story, as he's a very different style, and one that's potentially awkward for Khan. One thing is, though, that Maidana had success because he hits hard and is as tough as old boots -- Bradley is tough, of course, and is supremely fit, but his chin has been proved as not pure granite and he doesn't hit with anywhere near the power of Maidana.

I could see a close fight against Khan, with a round or two, and a knockdown, swinging it in Khan's favour.

I think the key for Amir here would be to make sure he avoids Bradleys overhand right. That was the downfall of Witter all those years ago and seems to be his main weapon. Maidana was landing rights for fun too so unless that's sorted it'll be hard work.

Main thing seems to be, will Khan say Bradley is pricing himself out?

I'd like a Holt/Khan fight for some excitement, Bradley hasn't been in a barnstormer yet but I think he'd have his hands full trying to keep Bradley at arms length who seems pretty awkward to fight.

Khan would beat Alexander to the punch all night and he seems to go on the negative when things aren't going his way.

Agree with you ther - after the 1st couple of rounds i though Khan would have serious trouble against Bradley, not so much alexander pretty much nothing impressed me about him (and his constant shouting was annoying).

But after 3 round i honestly believe khan would have taken him to pieces easily.

I fancy Khan to beat both of them, to be honest. Alexander hasn't impressed me at all in his last two fights, just think Khan would be far quicker and busier. Bradley would be a tough fight, but I can just see Khan racking up points. Bradley does everything well, but I wouldn't say he was particularly great at anything.

I agree; Alexander seemed to allow himself to be pushed about last night. He didn't seem to want to fight hard. He was chuffed when the doctor got involved and made a song and dance of things. I really admire Bradley, his achievements and attitude but I do think that Khan (who seems to be getting more twatish) will beat both of them.

I still favour Bradley to beat Khan.
Bradley is so adaptable and clever. He would work Khan out.

Khan seems to fight the same. Fast start - fast flurries.

I think Khan would beat them both, probably a UD over Bradley, I'd back Khan to stop Alexander. I think Amir would be too fast and accurate and build up quite a handy lead, and Alexander will probably lose heart and fall to pieces in the latter stages.

TBH last nights fight was a huge disappointment in my eyes. Alexander looked like he wanted to be anywhere but in the ring while Bradley did his harrying thing followed by his dome.

Neither fighter has the crossover appeal that boxing needs, Khan does, flashy speed, aggressive and headstrong enough to get into serious trouble.

Why on earth does everyone seem to think Khan has signficantly more speed than these two? Khan is very fast, but so are Bradley and Alexander. It was a very tactical bout, which made it hard for either guy to really look impressive. Khan was battered by Maidana at times, and yet everyone juiced over that showing.

I think Khan would win a clear decision over Alexander, but Bradley is a better fighter than Alexander, and that would be a tougher contest. I'm surprised that so many people think Khan easily beats someone like Bradley. What is that based on? Wins over Malignaggi and Kotelnik? Going life and death with the sloth like Maidana? Khan was getting nailed by Maidana all night, even before he was hurt. I just don't believe he deserves the master boxer reputation that has been given to him. I would still favor him slightly over Bradley, but the American is very fast himself, has great stamina, can be difficult to hit, and is a tough guy all round. He usually stays very active, and while he doesn't have great power, that right hand lands hard enough to shake up Khan.

Hopefully Bradley-Khan gets made soon.
