Re: Khan's team give Alex Ariza the boot over money
Ariza's story doesn't make sense- stealing a contract doesnt invalidate it. There will be a principal copy in a lawyers office somewhere. The contract will have been countersigned by a neutral party also. Can't see any advantage in Khan's team stealing the contract. If Ariza was being paid a percentage of the purse I can understand why team Khan would dismiss him- that would be a ridiculous sum to pay a conditioning coach. You could easily get a world class coach from say an NFL team to work with you for a few grand. If they were paying Ariza tens of thousands for each fight they're quite right.
I've never liked how involved Ariza get either. Why is a conditioning coach in the corner for example. He's constantly being interviewed and giving answers at press conferences as well. He seems to love the limelight.

Re: Khan's team give Alex Ariza the boot over money
If the folders with the contracts detailing the percentages or contracted payment for conditioning services relating to other boxers were stolen that would obviously be of use to an interested party. The stealing of a copy of a contract is neither here no there; it is the information contained that is of use. If Khan were paying a fixed percentage of his purse then obviously Ariza would be getting well paid for his services now. He was doing less well from Khan 6 fights ago. It may be; now that Amir is beginning to earn big and shooting for a mega fight next year that his management team feel that they are paying over the odds for a conditioning coach - if Ariza was doing specialised strength and conditioning training 6 fights ago for say $25,000 why pay him $500,000 if Khan bags a match v Mayweather?
I can see the allure of that type of thinking; Amir is the one doing the training and the fighting, if he were doing the same exercises over and over, fight by fight they'd probably feel that Ariza was pretty redundant, that he'd been paid for his knowledge and insight and that Amir could do the same sets of exercises with someone else and save a bundle.
I'd like to think that when there is that much dough about that everyone in the team could be looked after well; I'm sure there are far less productive members of Khans management team/ entourage that could be displaced with a similar sort of cash saving.

I'm sure I used to see Kerry Kayes at Hatton fights; he would be interviewed at length etc. Though I read that he didn't take payment for his services I understand he was independently well off through a thriving supplements business (that got plenty of publicity through his work).
Maybe Alex Ariza isn't so lucky to not have to charge for his knowledge/services; may be he is the same as most of us; he has to work to pay the bills and put food on the table.

Smells a bit fishy doesn't it although if you read Angelo Dundee's book ,Sugar Ray Leonard screwed him in the same way too.Dundee was the manager with a contract and a percentage but Leonard's Lawyers got involved and reduced it.From what I recall leonard played it dumb too,Khan,Hamed,Manny,Floydd and Leonard they call the shots end of.
Maybe the paperwork had confidentiality clauses in it, after all there have been rumours about the use of PED's,maybe the fighter was going to get exposed or threatened with exposure.

Big John Mc was doing "ridiculous running, stupid training, really ridiculous, but I'm fit, never been in this type of shape" with Jim Mc.
This overtraining "phenomenon" is a fun tag isn't it?

I think there is more to this than money... Ariza has been with khan for years and they only paid Roach so why is there an issue with payment now? If team Khan died steal contracts why is Roach still working with Team Khan?
Anyway, I heard Ariza tried to get Khan to sign a contract hours before the Maidana fight. It's a shame that Team Khan have dropped him because clearly Khan and Ariza had a good relationship and has made a difference. But i do think Ariza does get too involved for a conditioning coach...Khan had to apologise on his behalf after he made some really out of order comments to Miguel Diaz!

FWIW Chjavez Jnr has recently given Ariza the boot!
Re: Khan's team give Alex Ariza the boot over money
hes unbelievable at the moment -
he also bangs on about doing plenty for charity etc etc - then low and behold its in the Bolton/Manchester News every single time. I know part of it is for good PR and is fine many celebs do it and it raises profile of the charity also.....but even so, every single time? and its all about press to show what a great lad he is........nothing much about the actual charity, no....... its all about amir. And only providing he has air time or newpaper coverage.
The other day he rang some fans who follow him on twitter - i thought thats nice for some of the kids he'd be ringing to speak to their hero etc...low and behold the next day it was all a publicity stunt for the press with pictures of him doing it and an interview about himself.
Not to mention him twittering about how cold it was in the church whilst he was sat at Nat Lofthouses funeral as the herse was pulling up outside. Whats he doing there anyhow!! he's not a player and too young to have known Nat around the club as this was before Amir was famous!!!
And now he's got in with the Man Utd crowd of players he's now often at Old Trafford with his hangers on....So much for the big Bolton Fan proud of his roots - it was also noted he dumped the BWFC logo from his shorts/gown/training gear.
I want to like Amir as he's a local lad..........but he makes it so so so difficult.
