There a perception that every 'world' champion boxer will make enough money so that he can live in luxury without working for the rest of their life. It simply does not happen in 99% of cases. If the boxer gets enough to buy a house and keep their head above water without falling into debt then they're doing pretty well compared to most people.

I don't think Enzo Macc probably earned enough to live in luxury. But it depends on the boxer, if they invest their money wisely they can set themselves up, look at Gary Lockett , I hear he got into property with his money and has set himself up nicely and I bet his purses never added up to what Enzo Macc's did.

The Haye fight alone, I know Haye got £500k+ for this fight, Enzo surely got £200k+, sell out fight at O2 arena shown on multiple TV channels, shown late at night so American TV could have it as well. £200k could buy 2 terraced houses outright somewhere and rent them out. Do that a few times, build up a portfolio and you don't have to work again.

He also fought on many big allegedly cards at various arenas, shows that were on both SKy normal and Sky PPV, can't see he was taking home rubbish money for those fights.

Probably the major issue for a lot of 'better earning' boxers is spending all their money in the good times and not really putting much away for the future.

He could dedicate himself to being a top boxing trainer or manager without the financial pressure of it having to make him a living or else having to get out and get a regular job with guaranteed income. So maybe I would re-phrase it to 'never have to be under the financial pressure that most people have to face'. Would be a nice place to be imho.

I think just as much as I can see your point, I also think for every person who may get called ignorant by saying what I said above, there is a lefty apologist making excuses for people who they have probably only ever read about at uni and in the papers. Not saying that is you, more like some of the people who ran/run our country.

I was brought up on a council estate, so I know as well as anyone there are hard-working people, there are people stuck in certain difficult situations and then there are just the out and out scroungers. I just see more and more these days people playing the system for what they can get out of it.

Enzo was never a big Cruiser and would have been a lot better suited to 13-8.I think him and Bomber are probably about the same size.

the crack with Enzo is that he spends every second of every round trying to break his man down and get him out of there. And if he doesn't do this it leaves him knackered/ gassed, open and vulnerable.

Look at the man's record...he has something like 20 odd victories inside 3 rounds.....it's like somebody's give him the blueprint to be an exciting Marquee world beater.
If he did some work and then stood off he wouldn't have lost some of his fights.

I put it down to bad training or he doesn't listen or cann't translate it into a fight.

When he sat at the press conference before the Mag 7 saying he was in the best shape of his life, like many, I thought this was nonsense. But it clearly wasn't because he was in great shape.

Should he retire?? Most definitely or he'll end up in a bad way.....he might do now with the punishment he's taken but I sincerely hope not!

Light heavyweights that are natural for the weight class can crack plenty hard enough to knock people out. Especially if they are against someone who has boiled right down to get onto the scales.

The odds are slim to none of him being effective beyond the first few rounds.

I agree on the weak minded thing,i dont think you can continually put yourself forward for fights after being brutally knocked out like enzo has and be weak minded.Just my opinion anyway.
