Re: Paul Smith
Maybe Prizefighter in Liverpool as well....
Re: Paul Smith
Hope not. Smith has been in entertaining fights of a good quality and doesn't lose much by being beaten by Degale.Londonirish wrote:Maybe Prizefighter in Liverpool as well....
Prizefighter is awful, 3 rounds isn't enough for a boxing match, poor skill levels and a flawed format which needed two replacements to decide the last one. It's a test of how 'does this ex-champ have enough left to beat this novice who hasn't learnt the pro game yet'? Is this what boxing is reduced to?

Re: Paul Smith
Loads of avenues for Paul. Prizefighter is surely not for him. I wouldn't regard him as a fast starter either.
Re: Paul Smith
hes fighting a 8 rounder in april hopefully he gets through that then can take on groves for the commonwealth as i cant see booth letting groves anywhere near degale
Re: Paul Smith
cant see smith calling out groves.im sure groves would love to use him as a yard stick.

smith imo would take the groves fight in a heartbeat, groves likes to stand and trade so it would be a more winable fight for simth and groves isnt as quick or big as degale

Re: Paul Smith
He didnt want to take on Groves when he held the british title, said they were on differant levels or something along them lines...So now he got schooled by Degale he fancies it does he??diggler wrote:hes fighting a 8 rounder in april hopefully he gets through that then can take on groves for the commonwealth as i cant see booth letting groves anywhere near degale
Re: Paul Smith
groves has a title am guessing smith want a title back so yeah i think he fancies a groves fight its a win win situation for both fighters

he's not as slick :!: but he's got fast hand's & punches harder & he is a big lad at 12st diggler.smith i felt became a bit cute when he got the title he could of had the 3 defences he wanted even terms with maggee & wouldnt even entertain dilk's & then had nowhere to turn when wazza sprung the chunky fight.

Re: Paul Smith
I would not say Groves hits harder than DeGale. He is more aggressive and loads up more but it usually takes quite a few shots to stop his opponents.hurlock wrote:diggler wrote:hurlock wrote:cant see smith calling out groves.im sure groves would love to use him as a yard stick.

I agree with hurlock on this one,i think groves is a bigger puncher, not by much but i think he has the edge.I dont think you can use the anderson fight as a yard stick as i think anderson is very tough and resilient.mickey1975 wrote:I would not say Groves hits harder than DeGale. He is more aggressive and loads up more but it usually takes quite a few shots to stop his opponents.hurlock wrote:diggler wrote:

Re: Paul Smith
I think that Paul will be fighting at Middleweight from now on. With Macklin and Barker looking to move onto the World scene, there may well be a few titles available. Get a win under his belt and then look to fight for the British or European Middleweight tiltle. Even if Macklin and Barker do not vacate the titles then im sure a fight with either of them would go down well. I think that given Macklin's recent performances, Smigga would have a better chance against him than he would Barker.
Re: Paul Smith
I agree with him dropping weight, but he's good mates with Macklin so don't think he'll fight him. Same gym now too.boxer70 wrote:I think that Paul will be fighting at Middleweight from now on. I would get a 4 man pride of the Liverpool tournament on, Dilks, Smith, Quigley, Dobson. Similiar to the Bantamweight one, 2 of them fight then the winners fight and losers fight on 2 double header bills. Easy to sell and should be reasonably easy to make? Winner getting a crack at the British.

Re: Paul Smith
Despite having a lot of admiration for Smigga - I still think he is only a domestic class fighter - not stating that to ruffle feathers just writing plainly.
Smigga is one guttsy courageous professional boxer who will win whatever domestic belt he goes for - I think his limit is no further than a shot at a European belt and as I have stated in the past and will do so again - where on earth is the shame in that.???

Re: Paul Smith
According to his Twitter, whoever it is, itwill be back at middleweight...
That's where he should have been at all the time IMO. Good luck to him

Re: Paul Smith
he said he couldnt make middle but went up in weight to get opportunitys. he took advantage of a weak division & then came along sutherland, degale, groves, jeffries, anderson, dickinson
D
seem's like he's done some soul searching & i think middle will be great for him & hopefully he starts walking around lighter. i think boxing at 12st would have added finesse to his work imo.

In the Vegas bout he landed flush god knows how many times and still couldnt move an opponent who had been stopped or knocked out a good few times. The ref was a bit hasty too.lefty wrote:I agree with hurlock on this one,i think groves is a bigger puncher, not by much but i think he has the edge.I dont think you can use the anderson fight as a yard stick as i think anderson is very tough and resilient.mickey1975 wrote:I would not say Groves hits harder than DeGale. He is more aggressive and loads up more but it usually takes quite a few shots to stop his opponents.hurlock wrote:
