The Banbula draw looks even better now after his appearance in prizefighter!

Jaffa is going absolutely nowhere, maybe he could get in touch with Billy Hardy and get a start at Crowtree Leisure centre.

Well something needs to change drastically, I hope he can turn it around and adapt to the pro ranks but personally I just cannot see it.

What is the point in coming out with shit like that? You dont have to kiss his arse but that is just disrespectful.Tony won an Olympic bronze and a lot of amateur titles and is a very talented boxer. Many top fighters have struggled in their early careers and gone on to great things.Give the guy a chance.

His biggest flaw is his mental makeup, or lack thereof.

If he can't bang his opponent out inside a round he seems to unravel. King was giving him some stick in the last couple of rounds in their fight, and Bambula was unlucky not to be awarded the verdict.

Perhaps the stiffs he was fed were too easy and he thought it would be an easy ride all the way?

Plus he simply can't accept criticism..... whining on Facebook about people slagging him off, I've heard that he used to post on here but when a few people suggested a couple of things he promptly did one. Is that true?

I'd be shocked if he won the British title. He's undoubtedly got the talent, but doesn't have the self belief or people around him that can impart that into him. He'd have been best going to the States immediately and signing with someone over there rather than being used cynically as a ticket seller.

He did used to post on here, his Dad still does, but it was more thasn people suggesting a few things that stopped him posting.to be fair though,i agree with most of the things you have said but am hoping they are flaws he sorts out.He clearly has ability but there was something very wrong in the Banbula fight.

If I was a pro-fighter I wouldn't come on message boards, tempting though it may be.

Focus.

If I reacted the way he does to criticism I'd quit the sport and become self-employed at something.... never mind not come on message boards.

I can see how some like to come on and ''chat'' to the fans.... so long as everyone remains on point it's all good. They might actually pick up on something that they've been missing technically?

Some boxers (naming no names) come across on here as being really arrogant and dismissive of people if they voice a dissenting opinion..... others take it on board and either agree or disagree as they wish.

maloney can take his time with jefferies because of the size of his fan base cant see him going for the british while the like of bellew, dodson, mckenzie and mcintosh are about, him and dickinson for the vacant english would be a great local derby extra security would be needed

Some good points,Tony is very happy with Tommy Brookes and is very focused and all his money he is making is getting spent on training in La ,So he is very focused now,and he will come good. :TU:

he said in an interview how much he's spending etc. i saw his hotel room & he aint roughing it :!: he's showing commitment but imo wasting money. if you look at steve collins he was out there & fighting on there circuit he was getting pads because he was showing he meant buisness in sparring. unless tony is going to fight on there circuit he should be over here.
we have tibbs, mcdonnell, simms, lawrence,al smith(under rated),cook, in london who'd be great for tony :!: him trying to do 12st was a big mistake. it seem's like tony is looking for a quick return on his investment & things take time.but i do wish him the best, they dont hand out olympic medals.

He has moved out of the 30 dollar a night hotel he is in a carvan now 8) Frank Maloney recommended Tommy Brookes and its the best decision he has ever made ,Theres great sparring out there, his away from sunderland and you spot on it dose take time, and he will box at 12 stone in the future my friend:TU:

To be fair he did look somewhat improved in his last fight and was thinking more about what he was doing instead of just trying to blow the other guy out of the ring!P.s so he's going to go back down to 12 stone in the future then?

If you can't take criticism you're going nowhere.

Without doubt he's had a great career, they don't give Olympic medals away for nothing.... but amateur and pro boxing are two different sports. Henry Paul was one of the best rugby league players of the last 20 years, but will probably go down as one of the lesser league to union converts.

I'd like Tony to do well, seems like a nice lad. Hopefully he gets some fights in America rather than having too many YES people in Sunderland turning him into a superstar. In the US he'll just be another nobody and will have to earn his stripes - in the short term it might be demoralising but long term could be the making of him.

Some of the criticism he took after the draw was a bit harsh, but in reality the warning signs had been there for a couple of fights that all wasn't well - so instead of doing something about it Maloney brought over another Latvian to knock over in 30 seconds.

Finally they've done the right thing and got him a proper trainer who will ensure that he gets the right sparring. Brooks can earn big bucks with other fighters so if Tony starts slacking (not saying he will) he's just get up and walk out..... not sure Rimmer would have done the same.

Best thing for him was moving to the states. There is NO substitute for hard quality sparring, which is what he will get out there. It will help him no end.

I think he could surprise a few people in a year or two, but he needs to have discipline and stick to the plan.

Isn't Jeffries from a rich family? (no offence i'm sure he's a sound lad) but probably hasn't got the hunger like someone who has to do it to survive than someone who does it for something to do as a side line ?

hey mate dont take a pop at me i was just answering the question, anyway you cant say that because someone does come from a rich family that they're not motivated anyway because not everyone is motivated by money purely, you can be motivated by wanting to be the best at something yoiu enjoy doing ie boxing so its not that black and white.
