BOOTH RETURNS FOR ARTHUR SHOWDOWN- SENT FROM THE OFFICE OF FRANK MALONEY
JASON BOOTH will challenge Jamie Arthur for the Commonwealth super-bantamweight title at Brentwood Centre on Saturday February 5.
It will be 33-year-old Booth’s first fight since losing a points decision against IBF champion Steve Molitor back in September.
It promised to be a tough return for Booth (35-6) against Cwmbran’s Arthur (18-4) who won the vacant crown against Kris Hughes three months ago.
The fight replaces Sam Webb’s British light-middleweight title defence against Bradley Pryce which is off after the champion suffered a back problem.
Promoter Frank Maloney said: “Fighters like Jamie, Jason are true professionals and always in the gym waiting for the phone to ring.
“I contacted so many fighters seeing who was available when Sam pulled out, but you either get told they aren’t in a gym or come across trainers who break out in a cold sweat when you mention a tough fight.
“Jason is never in a bad fight and this is a chance to win back his old title and have one more crack at the big time.”
Also on the bill 2008 Olympic bronze medallist David Price will have his first ten rounder against an opponent to be names early next week.
A super-flyweight contest sees recent British flyweight title challenge Ashley Sexton (9-0-1) box former British bantamweight title holder Martin Power (21-6)
Tickets for the show priced £30 and £55 are available from 0871 226 1508 and www.frankmaloney.com
