Perhaps he was still a little upset after the jeers he got at the MEN?!

Actor Russell Crowe faces up to four years in jail if he is convicted of assaulting a hotel employee in New York.

Police arrested the Gladiator star after he apparently threw a telephone at a member of staff at the Mercer hotel in Manhattan - where he was staying.

It is alleged the incident happened during an argument in the early hours of the morning.

After being held at a local police station, Crowe was led to a waiting police car in front of photographers and reporters.

He was then taken to Manhattan Criminal Court where he was charged with second-degree assault.

Crowe was in New York to promote his latest film "Cinderella Man," a biopic based on the life of world heavyweight champ James Braddock.

The film took in $18.6m in its first week of release, placing it fourth in the box office rankings.

During shooting for the movie, Crowe was involved in brawl with his friend and bodyguard, Mark Carroll, a former Australian rugby league test player.

The actor later blamed himself for the incident, saying he had been drinking and the fight had erupted out of a "misunderstanding".

Crowe won a best actor Oscar in 2001 for his portrayal of Maximus in Gladiator.

Heard he was trying to make a phone call and the phone wouldn't work so he came down and had an argument with one of the staff members and threw the phone in his face bursting him open.

Thinking about it though he probably got pissed up at Hatton's after-fight party, then a flight back to New York, stinking hangover and gets some shit off a hotel employee. Could have happened like that...

Thinking about it even more the man just believes he's god, he's a big headed tool who walks around with minders ready to back him up and thinks he can say and do what he wants.

The guy does a bit of boxing training for a film and thinks he can do it. fackin love to take a fool like that , out the back of a boozer no minders just him and me and see how he goes,

Spot on. Anyone (especially in the public eye) that thinks they can go around assaulting whoever they like will get what's coming to them.
