If Witter was a "fire" he'd be slow burner that went out when cold water was thrown on it by Alexander and Bradley.

even though he said on ringside that he actually cant make 140 anymore! What a jokeHS Press wrote:http://news.boxrec.com/news/2011/witter ... -challenge
Re: Junior Witter "Yes we Khan"
I'd give Witter a decent chance against Khan....although he's got a bit Audley-esque predictable in recent years.
ANYWAY, WHEN DID HS SPORTS RELEASES SUDDENLY BECOME FCKING READABLE. COULD YOU TAKE THIS AWAY PLEASE AND MAKE IT A BIT MORE PREPOSTEROUS PLEASE.

lol,id give him a chance in normal circumstances but he said he cant make the weight anymore so if the fight happens it probably wont be competitive anyway because he'll be weight drained!NorthEastBoxingFan wrote:I'd give Witter a decent chance against Khan....although he's got a bit Audley-esque predictable in recent years.

These type of PR from Witter usually precede the supposed opponent, in this case, Amir Khan, signing to fight someone else this afternoon.

Re: Junior Witter "Yes we Khan"
where would the fight happen? I can't open the page properly to check?? And what happens if Witter gets injured...?
if JW hits Khan the he won't be getting up like he has done before a few times. He'll be getting up more like he got up against Prescott.....but you're talking long-shots now. The fight probably won't happen.

Re: Junior Witter "Yes we Khan"
I hope he doesn't get injured like in the Alexander fight...that would be a terrible
Re: Junior Witter "Yes we Khan"
Khan's desperate for an opponent and Witter's desperate for a BIG fight, sounds like a match made in heaven to me. Prefer this to the Petersen and McCloskey fights that were being mooted, but John Murray would've been my pic.
If Witters not lost too much of his speed and timing in the last 18 months then he'll still be a threat, it's not a style I reckon Khan will have been up against very often

Re: Junior Witter "Yes we Khan"
I don't think Witter's sharp enough at this level anymore. Khan's hand speed is outstanding, and the power is good too. His durability has improved a lot as well.
Add to this Witter's trouble making 10st and I don't see this being a good fight at all.
Khan should stick to fighting bona fida light-welters, and Witter really should move up to Welterweight. Draining himself at this stage of his career is a bad idea...but where else will he get an opportunity like this :??

Just watched Witter vs Lauri then I watched his latest fight. He's definitely lost a lot of his speed. :(

Re: Junior Witter "Yes we Khan"
Witter was always a lot better on paper than in the ring IMO, and while he had good power and speed I'm not sure he ever truly made for a really exciting fight.
Having said that, his spectre has grown since Hatton has gone out of the picture, and he's far more sell-able as 'the guy Hatton dodged' than the guy Hatton beat. It's an easy sell for Sky, Witter will be tough to get rid of but I'd favour Khan in a frustrating but comfortable decision. I'd buy it anyway though!!!
I'm not sure the money will be right to help Junior lose the weight, but having met him I never thought he was big enough for WW really, there are some big guys at 147 who drain. Khan has a much bigger frame in truth. I'd imagine Witter can still do LWW for the right fight, claiming not to be able to may just be the carrot needed to make the fight and have prospective opponents thinking he'd be tight at the weight. Or am I giving the Witter camp too much credit![[icon_e_confused.gif]](./images/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif)

Re: Junior Witter "Yes we Khan"
i've been a Witter fan in my time and I am also a Khan fan.....I can see the fight being made....Witter is a name fighter still, just about, and Khan's camp will probably see it as lower risk than potential other fights. I think Khan;s lot will be looking to cash in on that title now, and that means fighting. It's also got the all UK angle and could sell out a big UK venue with a decent undercard imo. I'd definitely go to see this.
Witter can knock him out, but he ain't been about action for a few years now so you'd be nuts to look past a win for Khan.

Re: Junior Witter "Yes we Khan"
Witter has aged badly, lost his speed and his timing was garbage against Alexander.
Khan will show him up.
Khan will show him up.
Re: Junior Witter "Yes we Khan"
Witter should retire. His performance in his last fight showed that - his reflexes are gone - he looked like a notvce against an over rated fighter (Alexander). This is purely for one last paycheck - and good luck to him. But, Team Khan have got a soft touch for an opponent who is content with their bargain basement offer.
This fight is a load of crap and if one wants to critique a great like Ali 'ducking' Foreman (for example) they shouldnt be lauding this fight (even if it is their fourth choice). It would be great if we could get a trade mag or someone that is paid to report boxing to actually earn their money and 'critique' Team Khan with this charade and their bullshit over the past months.

I'd have Khan in 4 for this one.
Was hoping Katsidas would be the man for the job, but it now seems the Khan camp are after an easy fight before the Bradley showdown.

Re: Junior Witter "Yes we Khan"
I'm not sure he's a name to many casual fans. Most of the fellas i was speaking to last night didn't know anything about him. I did find it a bit strange
Re: Junior Witter "Yes we Khan"
PPV for this bollox. Well, Adam Smith's reign gets its first acid test.
Re: Junior Witter "Yes we Khan"
I'll just copy and paste what I put on another thread.
I think a rematch with Breidis Prescott would bring in the most money. It doesn't matter that Breidis Prescott turned out to be as one-dimensional as we all thought he was. Sky could just show re-runs of the Khan KO and people will buy it.
I'd exclude Kell Brook and my realistic list of possible fighters for the 16th. Seeing it from the boxing fan and Sky's POV equally. I would like to see in this order.
1. Michael Katsidis
2. John Murray
3. Breidis Prescott
