I did have something constructive to say! My opinion is that Jeffries will achieve nothing in the pro ranks and do very well to and probably reach his maximum potential if he wins a British title, now if that upsets you Adam or anyone else I really couldn't give a nuns chuff!Adam1991 wrote:Hagler i didnt post this for you too slag jaffa off, you obviously dont kno him and never met him, hes a great down to earth lad and boxing is his life hes gone over to america to better himself as a professional so every credit to him.. in future dont comment on my posts unless youve got something constructive to say!!!!
In regards to the Billy Hardy/Crowtree Lesuire Centre comment that was in jest.

I have learnt never to rule someone out totally, but with Jeffries there's not much I like about his style. He needs to relax into his stance, and let that jab go, then fight behind it. Maloney has got it so wrong with Jaffa. In the fights where he hasn't blown someone out, Maloney has brought over another Latvian for him to 'build up his confidence', when in truth it stagnates him. He needs an opponent who is better than the last everytime he faces an opponent. Knocking out 10 tomatoe cans is counter-productive because he'll become right-hand happy, and it will backfire, if it hasn't already with Banbula, who himself is nothing great. If he continues the way he's going then he's going nowhere, so he definitely needs to concentrate, train hard and get his nut down, otherwise he's English-level material.

I agree,he needs to be given a test something that will motivate him.At times he seems to just be getting used as a cash cow because he draws a big crowd in sunderland.Dioufy wrote:I have learnt never to rule someone out totally, but with Jeffries there's not much I like about his style. Being out of the limelight in America will in my opinion do Jaffa the power of good - in addition sparring he will be getting will be superb - they wont give a f*ck who Jaffa is and thus they will have given him a rough time and thus in my opinion improve Jaffa leaps and bounds. To add to that Jaffa will be doing ok otherwise he would have been home by now in my view.
At the Jamie McDonnell v Jamoyle fight - I had a hideous experience - some filthy mackem **** came up to me and said "are you Spud" my reply was yes and I got out of headbutt range. Phil Jefferies introduced himself and I have to say we had a bloody good chat - top man - which was a relief after the spats on here!!!
I think Jaffa has an awful lot to prove - I dont think things will happen immediately however its my honest opinion that Jaffa needs to be matched competiviely and very toughly - either he will make it or he can go and work for his dad its as harsh as that - my feeling is Jaffa will prove some of my criticisms wrong and I hope he does.

sum 1 said above , if i cant take criticism i may aswel pack in boxing
whats that all about hahahaha
i admit can't take criticism very well and why should i? if i was one of these fighters letting my mouth go saying i'm going to do this and that then not doing it then i deserve stick but i dont not at all, i don't mind positive constructive criticism, but when people slag me personally and be nasty about it and say stuff as if they wanting me to fail
i've got much better at taking sh*t since the bambola fight cos i got loads for that
anyway part 2 of my video "life as a pro" will be coming soon
just keep checking my fb page http://www.facebook.com/olympian.tony or twitter http://www.twitter.com/tony_jeffries haha why not give it a cheeky plug
i tell u what makes me laugh when some of the critics say i should consitrate on boxing rather than being on twitter and facebook
what does this mean, after nd in between training u expect me to sit there on youtube watching videos of boxing , or
studying it from when i wake up to when i go to sleep haha or coming on boxrec reading sh*t people say about me :surprised: i enjoy going on it same as everyone , at the end of the day i'm a normal lad and which normal lad don't use facey

someone above said it looked like i'm staying in a luxery hotel in LA , google the extended stay hotel Torrance Harbor Gateway then you will change your mind look where it is too!!
every 1 saying things need to change with me ..... why do you all think i came to USA ? i'm not here for a holiday!!
every round of sparring i've had here has been like a fight (open) against tough tough boxers,
Tommy Brookes is a fantastic coach the best i've worked with,
and for people who are interested i'm still waiting for the date of my next fight its looking like april
or and here's the "life as a Pro" video if you missed it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkxcybXmn94 it was filmed about 2 year ago , but never got put together so it's going to be on youtube in parts as its now finished , i'm sure theres plenty of you will find stuff on there to give me stick about

This is what it's all about - it takes heart, hunger and sacrifices to make a step like this and anyone who doesn't acknowledge that isn't a boxing fan, in my opinion.jaffa1 wrote:every 1 saying things need to change with me ..... why do you all think i came to USA ? i'm not here for a holiday!!

Whatever happens from here, at least Tony will never have the dreaded 'what if?' scenario - he's taken every step he can to get himself back on track and that can only be applauded.
I, for one, wish you the best of luck Tony

Re: Tony Jeffries
tony is from a working class family thats done very well through hard work, a large part of tonys life has been around the less fortunate times so I wouldnt be putting him down as a little rich kid as his roots are far from it, I know where in S/land he was brought up.
Some rather harsh, and unkind comments made here, lets see what comes of his LA move in the long term and make crititism then. Time to climb of the lads back I think
No-one likes mud being slung at them (and granted tony's asked for it at times) but some handle it better than others, especially when your not used to it

Marco Antonio Barrera was from a well off family, chose boxing instead of a lawyer didn't he.flatnoseflynn wrote:I hope he does well good luck to himas I said no offence but hunger is everything to with it all the best pro's come from bad starts in life that's the hunger you need to get to the top sorry but very true.
Agree with you on the whole though but is a bit of a generalisation.
Really like Jeffries and hope he does improve and does well, seems a down to earth nice lad, cracks me up on twitter (aint been on in ages though). At the end of the day though the lad has an olympic medal so he has already achieved more than most people in the world
Re: Tony Jeffries
It's a rubbish generalisation. There are people who strive for success and bone idle folk in all walks of life. Main difference is people from more wealthy backgrounds are far less likely to ever take up boxing - doesn't mean they will want success on the rugby field/cricket pitch/court room whatever any less. Now I think it's a different matter once you have achieved success to keep the motivation to stay at the top and that's where Marvin Hagler silk pyjamas comment comes into play.
Anyway, I'd love to see Tony get himself back into the mix and light heavy or super middle. I certainly wouldn't write him off yet. The sight of Degale moving as quickly as he is must be enough motivation for him

Anyway you can tell Tony doesn't come from a wealthy background, can't understand a word he says!!! Lol only kidding.
Also Tony any chance of you fighting over in the states, imo, which to be honest doesn't mean much, sometimes I think you were a bit too eager to impress, maybe if you were in the states you could sit back and think about your boxing more, valuable experiance, cos you've obviously got the skills.
