All-time "most FEARED fighters!"

Post by jimglen »

Starting with British and from the past
(I know a bit more about past fighters than modern).

Jack 'cast iron' Casey, Jock McAvoy and Bert Gilroy...

the immortal Charley Burley, Sonny Liston and Mike Tyson...

just to name a few, "try to include, LONG time Contenders, 'very definately ducked fighters and not just Champions."

Rocky, Ali, Foreman were also feared in their day. As was Frazier.

I'd say Max Baer was pretty feared. His punching power lead to the death of Frankie Campbell (baseball player Dolph Camilli's brother) and the beating he gave Ernie Schaaf may have lead to his death against Primo Carnera. Also, "Cinderella Man" made him out to be very feared among the fighters and public. Even without those facts, he had one hell of a right hand, one of the best at heavyweight.

Mike Tyson!

Was a fighter ever more feared than Iron Mike between 1986 & 1989?

Earnie shavers scared people have to death with is mongolian warrior look. Some guys feld the arena before the fight in amatuers because they were so scared.

Definetely the harder hitters seemed to be the more feared ones cause everyones afraid to get brutally knocked out. Why do u think bonecrusher became boneclutcher against tyson??/ he was afraid of getting knocked out the whole fight so he grabbed on.

By the way, just thought i should let all u boxing pals of mine and experts know i graduated high school today, so lets give the youthful "marciano lover" future expert guy some props.

My sister graduated from Springfield 10 years ago. Springfield is known for having very strong atheltic department (Basketball invented there and their close connection with the YMCA) Are you going to try out for any of their teams????

Actually, they also have one of the country's best athletic training departments and physical education/coaching departments in the country. They truly believe in the addage that a strong mind and body need to be challenged together.

Best of luck.

Congrats again!

Coach Amato is a great coach. How often do college atheltes have a PHD in their corner/sidlelines? Springfield is a top notch DIII program that can give many east coast DI wrestling programs a scare.

Best of luck... What weight class?

To talk about Tyson. Didnt he dodge Holyfeild for a long time in 88? Feared? Youve gotta fight contenders to be feared. Go ahead mention Tubbs how about Spinks or Holmes?

NO dude Tyson did not duck Hoylfield. in 88, tyson was at his peak and would have Koed holyfield. Hoylfield was still cruiser at time. and didnt have enough experience at heavyweight. Tyson lost everything after he fired kevin rooney.

I plan to wrestle at 133 but I doubt I can make it. Maybe I can line up a wrestling match between me and Diego Corrales. where in the same weight class. I think I can take him. :P
As long as he doesnt throw a punch. lol then not only will he be disqualified, but Ill be seeing stars for about a week. :box:

blockbuster i remember when holyfeild whent into the hevyweight divison he challenged tyson in fact when tyson lost to dougles he dodged alot of contenders to fight someone that wasnt even in the top 10 ranked including holyfeild , bowe , & razor just to name a few. so learn a litte bit of boxing.
