Rank The Fab Four.

Duran, Hagler, Hearns and Leonard. I'm not talking about matchups, just ranking them on achievements and ability.

1. Leonard
2. Duran
3. Hagler
4. Hearns

Same as you. Leonard normally about 1 place above Duran in top 10, Hagler top 20 and Hearns somewhat lower.

Leonard has Duran, Hearns, Hagler and Benitez on his resume, can Hagler match that? I suppose longevity lets him down which is something you can't criticise Hagler for, and Hagler was probably more dominant in most of his fighter. Leonards opposition was better in my opinion and Hagler's biggest fights were against smaller guys. Really depends on your criteria.

Hearns lost to Hagler and Leonard, as well as Barkley (admittedly after outboxing him) why would you have him above Hagler who was a completely dominant Middleweight?

It's close. I think that Hagler beat up the division on hs way to the title. Desrved the nod against Vito. Won the title anyway, in the end. Then he just said right come and get me. Almost equalled Monzon's record. But like Carlos the record only meant something if he beat the best.

Leonard had a brilliant career. He was retired for quite a while though.

Ray was all about climbing the mountain. Marvin set up base camp at the summit.

Hagler was champion for a long time.

Not exactly the same but I think Leonard suffered from the same thing Mayweather has now. He knew he was brilliant so did what he wanted to do, whereas Hagler had it hard on the way up so he had to work for everything. Leonard didn't have the same need to prove himself to people that Marvin did, who never felt appreciated. Leonard is just about top based on opposition for me, he was a star than burnt short, but bright.

Hmmm . . . Well, the initial post said this wasn't about head-to-head match-ups - so I assumed it was about resumes. The degree of separation between the four fighters is very, very small. I just like the other three guys' resumes better than Leonard's over the totality of their careers. Given how impressive these fighters are as ATGs, I have no beef with anybody else's rating. This is just my opinion based how I read the resumes. This isn't a hill I'm willing to die on - all four are genuine ATGs and it is hard to differentiate them. I'm not gonna fault anyone.

However, I will add that with better judging (IMHO), Leonard should have been 3-3 against the other three (and, if Hearns had had a little bit of luck in the first fight, 2-4). That, again, is just my opinion. Many people agreed with the scores in Hagler-Leonard and I'm sure even a few agree with the scoring in Hearns-Leonard II. Some may even think Leonard won. But even Leonard admitted he lost the second fight with Hearns.

You would be the first onto someone if they placed Chavez above Whitaker all-time, yet your boy Hearns gets the nod over Hagler!? Good one! :TU:

That's an incredibly pathetic analogy. But I expect nothing less from you. I don't have a problem with hagler over Hearns. It's very close, Tommy has more signature wins over 6 weight classes and marvin destroyed him.

What's really  is I just read you rate Oscar over Shane. What's that all about? You should change your name to Hypocritical Troll.

What it's, "all about," is De La Hoya absolutely blowing Mosley out of the water (accomplishments) during the first-half of their career, as has been explained. Mosley has not roped in enough ground in the second-half of their careers to even it out. Maybe you should ask the other eleven out of thirteen people who voted the same way I did, to help flesh out the answer to your surprise. Notice that most in the thread agree with my selection. Notice you are (& will remain, in all likelihood) all but friendless in marking Hearns above Hagler.

You, "don't have a problem," with Hagler over Hearns? How reasonable of you

Don't tell me you wouldn't be all over someone if they made a case for Chavez ranking higher than Whitaker all-time, on the basis of career wins, titles won, longevity etc. You know you would, because you think of Chavez as I think of Duran --- over-rated.
