He looks tough going on his record. Yes, he's 12-17, but he's never been stopped and his record includes going the distance with the likes of Barry Morrison, John Murray, Kevin Mitchell, Levan Kirakosyan, Anthony Mezaache and Naoufel Ben Rabah.

At this stage of his career, Frankie needs a test that someone as durable as Mounir will provide, so a great choice of opponent IMO. If Frankie gets him out of there early, then that will be a real statement.

Good stuff, are you hoping to have the title fight local or will it be on one of the big cards?

Frankie Gavin v Mounir Guebbas

Post by Old bones Ian »

I see this one is down for 19th Feb, Gavin will be too big, fast and accurate for the tough frenchman, he may even get a stoppage, something no-one else has managed to do to Guebbas.

Mounir is used to coming over here, he has fought Kevin Mitchell, John Murray, Danny Hunt, Barry Morrison, He is one of my favourite 'journeymen' , and doesn't stop trying in a fight.

Vids show this as a very good chance to get some good rounds in against a tough guy. A late stoppage would be awesome here, Barry Morrison, John Murray & Kevin Mitchell all failed to get him out of there. Either way show him your skills and get ready for a title shot soon.

Murray was the only one who really troubled Guebbas over here, the body shots seemed to hurt him early on, but he sucked it up and hung in there. John was trying for the stoppage but couldn't get it.

Guebbas is one of those boxers that other boxers have alot of respect for after the fight. On they way up both Murray and Mitchell said that he was one of their toughest fights.

Guebbas sliced up Danny Hunt and ended Danny's career. He's one of those hard-headed Morrocans, a decent opponent for a former world amateur champion at this stage.
