Re: Betting !!!
Paddy Power i agree with ya on The talk, but i can honestly say i aint seen John like this before looking even better and more up for it then the 1st Fury fight. Im training with him again for the last 5 months, he left the gym after the 1st Fury fight then came back after his lost in the second.. John knows how it going to be for the 1st 3 or so rounds but then John Takes him out between 5-7 imo this is what happens.. I know your on here Larry and i mean No Disrespct just saying how i feel the fight will go..... John is fully fit and more importantly Mentaly right for this Fight...billy bessey wrote:i like that price but it all depends how he is mentally. and before you say how up for it he is talk is cheap and you hear it all the time. but i think i might have a little wager on it what firm is this with martin?Londonirish wrote:There is'nt normally any Betting for a S-Area Title fight but i see that on PaddyPower web site that Larry and Big John McD there is...

i dont see john winning this , based on the fact that once larry lands on him i think hes gonna lose the mental side again , and although i think he will survive the early rounds i believe that will be because of larry being abit slower deliberatley , knowing that big mac will be expecting an early onslaught , im predicting round 6 ko .
But the difference in opinions on here and other threads shows its a fight that on apaper could go either way , lets just hope it lives up to its potential as a cracking fight .

Re: Betting !!!
If McDermott survives the first few rounds without getting badly tagged, he is in with a real shout because he is a good boxer. I wouldn't say it's like buying money, Martin as a strong case could be put forward for both win to win fight but John is definitely a value bet in this.
Another good value bet coming up is Ashley Theophane to beat Lenny Daws. Think I seen odds of 13/10 floating about.

There is quite a few Boxing Bets that i have Fancyed but the only other one that i wrote on here is Tony Oakey winning the Prize Fighter coz i was so sure of him winning it.. I dont Bet but im so tempted to have a a Massive one on this......
Re: Betting !!!
if john establishes his jab early & gets larry running on to it with his head up, he'll take him out after 5rds agreed. larry has to be easily the strongest man in the country but still looks as green as the geezer who plugs sweetcorn :!:
D
great match up. infact great show :!: & it's worthy of a bigger venue imo.

Risky fight to bet on and not a foregone conclusion either way IMO. If there's one thing Larry can do it's punch and if he lands clean upstairs or downstairs(where McDermott is *ahem* vunerable) McDermott could be done early. Sure Larry could get outboxed but personally I can't see McDermott keeping him off for ten rounds. Larry's pretty relentless. I won't be touching this betting wise. I think Theophane is a better bet.

Re: Betting !!!
McDermott is definitely value here and I may have a small bet on him. I'm still rubbing my hands with glee at the 10/11 I got a few weeks ago on Alvarez stopping Matthew Hatton. Now that is buying money at a great price if ever it existed.

Got some of that 10/11 as well Steve, seems great value there is still 8/13 around and yet its 1/4 in a place.
The McDermott fight is a strange one, If Larry starts slower than normal to preserve energy for the later rounds that could in a strange way play into John's hands as
he does suffer from nerves at the start of fights and could be there for the taking early on but if allowed to box himself into the fight it will surely get hard for Larry late on.
Can see why the bookies make Larry favourite on recent form but have no qualms with anyone backing McDermott as there is a stronge case for both men.
Re: Betting !!!
I've noticed a trend in boxing betting, particularly with Boyles and sportingbet in putting up extremely generous odds when a fight is only just announced and then those odds tumbling massively within a week or so. I'm not sure whether they just miscalculate the odds or whether this is delibarate but it is something I'm regularly looking to exploit. The only issue with it is that your money is tied up for up to 2 months but is definitely worth watching.

Agree with ya 100%, its just that i aint seen John Train or be so much up for a fight like this before...Can he ko him ???? wrote:No disrespect martin but we see i lot of fighters on here bigging up someone they train alongside, i remember bellew and Gavin praising Matty Hall
I dont think John will have to keep him off for 10 rounds, dont see it going past 6-7.. Larry very Early or John Mid rounds.. I know this aint the Am's but John won the ABA's within 9 fights (i think 9?) Larry from what i remember got stopped in the Novice Championships? anyone one else know? i know this fight will be differant then the Am's/.black panther wrote:Risky fight to bet on and not a foregone conclusion either way IMO. I dont Fancy that one, i dont think Theophane deals well with a Hot Pace, i use to spar with him and didnt do to bad considing the size differants... i know he's had some good wins over in the U.S but imo its a Diferrant style of fighting...black panther wrote: I won't be touching this betting wise. Agree imo Larry needs to jump on John, if he cant get him out of there, he will get out boxed and stopped but imo that is only chance, if he tries to box John he will get taken to school amd taken apart, i think for two Big Men both suffer with Nerves

you make me laugh sometimes Martin. i suffer with nerves? where did that come from? you would think after spending 5 years in jail with some crazy people, nerves are the last thing on my mind. Also i was never stopped in the novices, i lost on points and was injured going into that fight. I have never been stopped and don't intend to be on the 19th. My name is not pele reid.

Sorry maybe its that you come across nice and humble when iv spoken to you before fights that i thought you was Narvous.. As you know John is a Nervous person and was absolutley shiting him self going into the Raid fight, in that it brought the best out in him....

My mistake......
I think on here 60-40, 70-30 in your favour which people think you will win, Boxing needs fights like this.......... Pele Raid was'nt badwarmachine wrote: I have never been stopped and don't intend to be on the 19th. My name is not pele reid.
Re: Betting !!!
i like BBJ in this one altho I've seen not a lot of Larry to be fair. Thought Larry looked "less than ripped" when I saw him in brief highlights a few months ago......I don't mean to be disrespectful, just an observation. I'll stick with John who i like as a boxer. I lost cash on John when he "lost" to Tyson Fury but he came out a winner to me cos he slapped Fury around for 10 rounds and shut his mouth right up. Also I think Larry's getting talked up like he hits like Mike Tyson and I don't but it. John to do the job, best of luck to both

I said its a great bet, i thought it would'nt have finish that quick, i thought if anyone was goig to get KO'd in the 1st it would of been John.
You could of Got 4/1 on John to win by KO..

Got him at 6/5Londonirish wrote:I said its a great bet, i thought it would'nt have finish that quick, i thought if anyone was goig to get KO'd in the 1st it would of been John.Deno1986 wrote:If McDermott survives the first few rounds without getting badly tagged, he is in with a real shout because he is a good boxer. i had £10 on gavin, daws, theophane and doniare to win within 1-12 at odds of 9/1
Re: Betting !!!
Was that an accumalator? It would have been a bit difficult to win seems as Daws was fighting Theophane.dazzer wrote:i had £10 on gavin, daws, theophane and doniare to win within 1-12 at odds of 9/1

Didnt see tat one coming, i thought Daws would set to much of a pace that Ashley would'nt be able to live with, thought he'd have to much in every department for him, im going by when i use to spar Ashley and how i got considering the weight difference... Great Win For Ashley
