Bradley Pryce

In light of David Barnes' last two fights, anybody now give Bradley Pryce a chance at beating Barnes now. What happend to this proposed match up anyway.

I'd give him a 50/50 chance, but it would just be a gunslinger's chance.

I've always fancied Bradley to do him. But then I thought he'd do McDonagh.

i always liked watching price. THink he would be about 30-0 now if he had been matched like mcdonagh and stayed at welter/lightwelterweight. Man who made this guys matches? First unrated bami who everyone in boxing knew was a serious banger despite not having a hugh ko record and then wilst still a "prospect" he's put in with sinclair! Im notsaying he was/is a potential great or anything but it is well within his abilities to have won the british title by now if he had been manged properly.

On the subject of Barnes what has been the afterfight report on him? Was it health clear? I presume by the lack of news it was thankfully, what has been the word on his dire showing? Anyone got any news on him.

Yeah, I fished around Manchester online papers, but bizzarely could only find reports of the fight. I think it's safe to assume he was okay.
But that in itself is something of a double edged sword since now he'll get criticised mercilessly. Look no further than Barry McGuigan's succinct summary of the showing: "can he actually fight?". Harsh but pertinent.

EDIT: actually, I'm not so sure about that question. That punch he was caught with was a 'funny' punch that had a 'funny' effect. A very dangerous punch. Might need to see if I taped the Vincent fight, because I remember he was in trouble a few times there. I want to watch his reactions/demeanor more closely.

Another good post, Manos.

People will criticise that performance more now than perhaps warranted. For me, whilst he appears to be fine physically now - he never recovered from the temple shot - while he looked okay in terms of balance etc he definately had an out of it look in his eyes when in the corner after each round.

Having said that, I think Barry's comment might have an element of truth in it.

Unfortunately you have to be cruelly objective in boxing, and I think we can realistically assume that Barnes will not progress any further than domestic level after that performance.

Yeah, I am afraid your right Chopping Right. It doesn't look so good for Barnes. I have only been impressed with him the once and I think Team Hare have been citing some "issues" which effected his display (I think Tea or Dale have said something on here).
