For 200K maybe he will ( if that's what he can expect ) or if not....then maybe Booth has pulled off a master stroke, by winning the bid and avoiding a fight he surely doesn't want for his boy so soon ( seeing as wheels almost came off last time out ) ?
I'm with you on the former, MW. It's a hell of a lot of wedge for DeGale to turn down...especially when he's ultra confident of winning anyway. I don't give a sh1t if there's some bullsh*t belt as the alternative - I can't see there being any more money in a WBA/WBO shot than there is here. There might be but I'd be amazed.
Yep that's huge money, for what's really just a clash of prospects ( although a fantastic fight for the fans ) I mean I know there are titles involved, but Groves has had, what, 11 fights ?
And of course another low rent vacant WBollox title wont pay anything like that, you'd think.

The fight would get the big build up from the likes of the sun, and DeGale knows he can win this, make some cash, then go for a "world" title after he's settled this one. I imagine he'll push FW hard to accept the fight. From his point of view, he'd be a mug not too.

I really hope Fwank lets DeGale box.Its a massive payday and one they must be super confident of winning. He let Calzaghe box Viet and Clev fight Macintosh on other peoples shows. If they stick it on the Haye undercard at a sold out O2 though,it may really grate FW.He has been itching for big London fight nights for a long time.

Very much agree that this will, unfortunately be the case.

Can't see it happening, which is going to look bad on Degale even if it's out of his hands

DeGale is Frankie's best attraction - do we all think he's going to let DeGale box on another bill, seriously, espcially when DeGale's next fight can be for a 'world title'?

Well he must be confident his man would probably pull off a stunning, high profile win, pick up a huge payday, and stick it to Booth all at the same time. The long term benefits could pay off.
I agree, it'd be out of character - but with big cash on the table, these fights can sometimes happen. He'll have to pay out big time to keep DeGale happy with the alternative.

I really, honestly don't see why not. It's really big money at a time when there isn't a great deal of it knocking about. But the main thing is that they will be 100% sure they're going to win.

Normally I'd agree with you like a shot but it does make sense on this occasion. If it doesn't happen, it'll be another major blow to British boxing, IMO.

If it come down to Frankie getting one over on Booth and the ginger on their terms or him giving DeGale a winable 'world-title' shot on his own PPV, then what do you think he will do with? Honestly.

Is DeGale a viable name for big PPV numbers just yet, against some guy no one has heard off? Not sure those numbers will add up.

What does add up is 200k+ to fight Groves on a fecking show you don't even have to promote against a guy you think he'll beat handily.

I do understand where Dioufy's at but I just don't agree on this occasion.

Ian, and MW, I bet DeGale ends up fighting for some WBA shite instead of Groves.

Dave Coldwell put it the winning bid of £400,000 presumably on behalf of Hayemaker. Hayemaker via Adam Booth bid £325,000 and Warren £320,000.

Theres allot of rumours Warren has WBA regular Champion Dimitri Sartison line up in case he lost out
Very nice fight for DeGale, I think. Sartison can punch, but he's no great shakes, imo.
Sartison is crap

You could be right mate. But it's usually about money, no? And I see the Groves fight being worth more :TU:

Money and pettiness (or control/power). If it was just about money there's a couple of other big fights which would have happened by now.

Yep Frank is stubborn alright, who knows what will happen - but times are tough and money is tight. DeGale and his accountant may ask some serious questions if FW lets his pride come first over the career of his golden boy.

So what's the thinking behind hayemaker going £325,000 to £400,000? Will they pull the large bid and still win with Booths?

I don't think the fight will happen now that Frank has lost the bids. I was more a Groves backer a year ago but now think Degale has sped past in his pro developemnt and will win by KO.

Frank doesn't like his stars on fighting on rival cards (shame for the sort), so I hope rather than expect this to happen. #Degale will look abit of a dick if he swerves the 'ugly ginger kid' to fight Sarison though

LET IT HAPPEN FRANK!!!!

I have a feeling that this fight might still happen because whilst fw wont want it because he wont be promoting i imagine degale will be screaming for it because he really wants to shut groves up

I'd love to hear Jim McDonnell's thoughts if Degale pulls out of fighting Groves to fight elsewhere

No this was for the British title so under BBBofC rules the champion gets 60% the other one gets 40% Hayemaker must have money to burn. The only way this fight can paid is on a ppv card unless a TV company are going to paid way above what they paid for a British Title fight.
