smith v simpson

Post by 15829 »

maloney won pusre bids so we should have a date and venue in the next 2 weeks, really looking forward to this think smith will win more convincingly than last time out where i thought he won by 2 rounds and that was with pulling the tendons in his hand, think we will see the best on smith especialy with gallagher in his corner

he cant lose with one hand :!: he got taken into unknown territory & showed savy, grit & fantastic mental strength.

this time round stephen know's how to dictate & controll his work over the 12 & knows everything he need's to know about simpson who will give it his all.smith is just starting out & simpson is at his peak & still aint a match to the rookie who may go very far.

Simpson for me, I had him winning he first fight by 2 points. I have a lot of respect for Smith for fighting with one good hand but I think John Simpson also had a bit of an off night. I'm hoping Simpsons form continues to improve and that he also decisively leathers Martin Lindsay again to move up in class and paydays.

I had Simpson winning the first fight by 2 as well, but there were so many close rounds after the 3rd. I thought Smith swept the first three by outboxing Simpson, but Simpson came on strong as the bout progressed. I really can't split them right now.

Stephen to win again, he showed tremendous character and determination to win with that injury last time, I think it'll go like the first 3 rounds with 2 clean hands.. ;)

I'm going for Simpson, in the last fight he boxed a bit too much, he had far more success when he was going forward and throwing in combinations not letting Smith get his boxing together. I think if he fights at the tempo and style he fought the Lindsay fight I think he'll win a competitive decision.

agrred, alex- i didn't think Simpson was as physical as I expected him to be against Smith, either- one of his best moves is usually the overhand right >>> clinch and grapple, repeat. basically i don't think simpson fought enough of his kind of fight Although doubtless we'll get a scouser or two on explaining how Simpson wasn't bullying him cos Swifty's such a strong kid.....

I think this one will be better than the first one and Simpson will get the decison he should have got 1st time.Smith is a brilliant wee guy and i know he'll be right up for it.1st time i will be in the opposite corner from joe and look forward to pitting my skills against him.

I think this is very much a pick em' fight. Simpson should rightfully be full of confidence after his brilliant destruction of Lindsay and should look to try to force Smith around the ring on the backfoot. If its a boxing match Smith wins it handily, but i cant see Simpson letting that be the case. I see it being very close again with Smith picking up the first 3-4 rds, with Simpson proving the stronger man over the championship rds to pick up a narrow decision.

Its a brilliant fight and I can't split them in the rematch. I think Simpson won by two in the first fight and wasn't at his best. Having said that you have to factor in that Smith was in his 11th fight, boxing away and broke his hand. He's also bigger and is the only fighter I've seen almost drop Simpson.

I'll definately be at ringside for this one!

Cant remember the exact round. It was towards the end of the round, cracking body shot and looked as though John almost took a knee. Could be completely wrong though!

I think that was the sixth round (or around that). Simpson clearly felt it, but he was never close to going down.

It was counted as a kd but looked like a slip IIRC and cost him the fight
