Yeah, I saw him. Mercman has summed him up. What made me laugh was in BM when he said something like if he'd been fighting Akinwande in a field he'd have killed him.
well at least we won't be hearing his jibber jabber for a few years

What 22 year old Tyson's boxing career will be over because his violent, vicious father is sent down?

In many of the interviews I've seen, he just acts like a violent, boastful, psychopath bully.

Toughest man in the country? He'll find out how tough he is when he gets inside I reckon. His sons can't come to his aid in there if he gets kicked in, and I'd imagine there's some pretty hard c***s in Manchester prison...

Unfortunately it's very unlikely he'll get any trouble in jail. Firstly he's a tough, big guy who can fight and is not afraid of violence... plus there'll probably be loads of people he knows in the nick.

It's a lot more likely that he'll be the one doing the bullying
He won't get any bother inside at all, you don't have to like or respect the man what he did was terrible, but the bullies in jail don't tend to pick fights with 20 stone 6'5" eye gouging former pro boxers.

If you're a renowned hard case there are many ways to make a lot of money; actual fighting is not really necessary. There're people about who want the protection of a name when they're up to no good and afraid of being robbed and debt collection etc. I've no real knowledge at all about the man but he doesn't seem to have been one of the very big names in gypsy bare knuckle boxing (I could well be wrong). Houses on Moss Lane, Wilmslow go for half a million quid at least; can't see that much dough in bare knuckle.

Bartley Gorman rated him as the best at the time of writing his book.

He also put Joe Boy Gaskin in there as well and without being disrespectful, some of the things in the book by Bartley Gorman, King of the Gypsies had more than a hint of poetic licence about them.

Its not too much , just that most others get let off to easy , personally i think he should get 11 and have to do 11 , but then after a set 5-6 years be given the choice, to get out if he allows the removal of his eye , or do the ful term

He also tried to gouge out the other eye - eyesight is one of the greatest gifts a person has; and he deliberately tried to blind a man, and succeeded in blinding him in one eye.

Bastard is a wild animal. He deserevs his sentence or more.

All that "I'm the toughest" talk, followed by brutally attacking and disfiguring someone, becomes somewhat negated when you then tearfully beg a judge for your freedom and claim to wish you could give your own eye to the victim...

Scumbag.

Not sticking up for the bloke, but 11yrs seems excessive....
That was my initial thought but to be honest mate, we dont know his previous and the victim has been left with a severe life-long disability. Plus the sentencing would be largely governed by similiar previous cases.
You can get more than 11 years for VAT fraud.

I work in the Court Service in Scotland and can tell you that 11 years sounds about right. What people need to remeber is that alot of different factors are weighed when sentencing. Two men can commit exactly the same crime and quite rightly get very different sentences. Also remember Fury wouldn't get a discount since it went to trial.

The judge would consider the nature of the attack: brutal, savage, bloody, sustained and unprovoked; the injuries inflicted- he gouged a mans eye out in front of his sons and attempted to fully blind him; the protection of the public- this is clearly a man who can turn into a psychopath in an instant and also the background to the offence- an argument over a beer 12 years ago not e.g. that the victim murdered his brother previously. Taking all that into consideration, theres basically no mitigation here and your sentencing someone who is a dangerous, vicious man. In that light 11 years is pretty lenient in my opinion.

I personally find it pathetic that defective alpha males in their forties can't think of a better way to resolve their differences. A middle aged man of honour has better things to do with his time.

I have just seen the article here on Boxrec and on the MEN website, and I will admit I winced at what Gypsy John Fury as I tend to get screamish about anything involving eyes. I think the judge was determined to make an example of someone with a GBH/Assault case that was coming his way and John Fury was the example that he was going to make with 11 years sentance. But even so if he does half to two thirds of it, he will still have licence and if he does break the law regardless of whatever offence that he may commit he goes straight back to serve the rest of his sentence PLUS whatever sentence that judge might also give that offence that he may get convicted of.

And if you think he has going to have it easy because he is a 6'5 former boxer etc. Don't be so naive, if he has been running his mouth like people have been saying that he is has been bragging about how hard he is there are bound to be guys that are going to go after him, and it won't be always with fists!!!.

leniant imo. I dont begrudge paying my taxes to keep scum like this in prison. To take someones sight, knowing what your doing whilst doing it. Then to come out with all that shit to the judge - 11 years should be 11 years and nothing else. No perks, nothing.

I'm a bit sqeemish about eyes as well, I struggle with eye drops so it made me blanch a bit
Most of the men in prison are bullies and fools; Fury will get no grief inside. A big man in for violence with plenty of money and who is a traveller (there'll be plenty in there) will do more than ok; most in that position make money in prison, no grief at all.

No disrepect to the victim intended, but I find it hard to believe that whilst he was having his eyes gauged out he was repeatedly saying 'Please stop, you’re hurting me.' If I was having my eyes gauged out I'd be screaming, swearing my head off if pain rather than saying something along the lines of "Do stop this, it's very painful and dangerous"

One of my brothers is in prison for a very sickening crime. Being 6 5", I can confirm size is an advantage in his case. Nobody bothers him. So I doubt anybody other than known rivals of John Fury will have a go seeing as though he his a giant psychopathic violent gypo, who is hard, (like it or not), and will not run from trouble. He will gain little firm of hangers on that will hang on his every word trust me. His son's a boxer ffs. Imagine it, "I'm in prison with Tyson Furys dad" ......until Tyson gets his arse handed to him that is.

Regarding pleading in court. You do what you do to survive lads in that situation believe me. Anybody here been in court will understand.
