PPV Fights in Cinemas?
PPV Fights in Cinemas?
I believe the old fights back in the day used to be shown in cinemas probably because not many people had TV's but do you think this would work now?
Imagine watching the likes of Hatton v Mayweather in a cinema with a full house?
It would be electric!
Future fights (if they ever happen) like Haye v Wlad or Vitali, Mayweather v Pacquiao etc would surely sell out venues across the uk.

Re: PPV Fights in Cinemas?
Pubs dont tend to have licenses 2 stay open late enough for fights in america and dont usually have the volume up properly etc. Not any pubs i go 2 anyway.
A cinema full of boxing fans would surely be the next best thing to being at the fight

I'm telling you, you couldn't beat watching the big American superfights 'live' in a packed cinema with a great atmosphere. It was like watching the best movies ever made.

For major fights like Hatton/Mayweather, or Haye against a Klitschko....it would be brilliant to have them in a cinema. Sure the atmosphere would be superb and second only being at the fight live. Nobody will turn out for the smaller rip off PPV's, but for the major fights there would be full houses i reckon.
Re: PPV Fights in Cinemas?
They still do this in the US but seeing as PPV is $60 the economics are a little different. I believe the cinema tickets are about $20.

I think it would work, but only for the biggest & best fights, so sadly, it won't happen very often, as the best fighters don't seem to want to fight each other these days.

Somebody would have to hire the cinema, and the digital ones are not cheap. You'd need to sell enough tickets to (a) cover the cinema hire costs and (b) pay for the transmission rights. Great idea though, I'd attend if there was such a thing going on ![[icon_e_biggrin.gif] :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)

Tyson McNeeley was shown at cinemas/halls etc. I watched it at Newcastle City Hall, the atmosphere was fantastic. I'd watch fights on the big screen in the blink of an eye.
