Bernard Paul v Carlos Chase.
Paul could really whack when he wanted to, been a while since i saw this one, and Bernard looks like a skinny Nigel Benn, good finish.

Kaylor was rarely in a boring fight.

Lloyd Honeyghan v Sylvester Mittee is now up

Honeyghan simply oozed class in 1986, the year he destroyed Curry. Believe me, Mittee was a man who could really fight but Lloyd picked him apart on 'away' territory on a Frankie promotion. (Lloyd was with Duff, of course.)
Coincidentally, Honeyghan once told me who gave him his hardest ever fight - Cliff Gilpin.

That would be Starling, I think! Gilpin knocked him over didn't he?

It was a class win over Mittee alright, Mittee was flying high at the time, a bit of a Eubank type character, and it was all about UK bragging rights.
Still, no one gave Lloyd a cats chance against Curry, except Duff and Honeyghan himself that is. Curry was P4P #2, behind Hagler, and some argued he could even be #1. He was seen as THAT good.
I remember Tim Mo in BN, writing off Lloyd's chances against Curry, and we all agreed with him.
My mate, who knows zero about boxing, predicted a Honey win - I told him he was insane of course.... Honey fought like a man who didn't realise he was supposed to lose that night against The Don, which must be a once in a lifetime type mind set to achieve.
The papers never liked him either, when he came back as world champ, all they could go on about was how many girl friends and kids he had etc..

I just put the full Kaylor - Christie slugfest up.

Lots of other 80's classics too.

Great fight, bonfire night and fireworks going off in the Albert Hall..what a night that was.

That's some good quality stuff you have there Collins2000, thanks for putting it up. Most of your fights seem to be out of the UK is that right?

Put some more up.

Tony Thornton v Darren Zenner

Duke McKenzie v John Davison

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZDBPD_5fWI
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBnsEjZ5ACw

And a tribute to Najib Daho , The Kid from the Kasbah. For those who don't know about Daho , he was a crowd pleasing super feather / lightweight. He was a win some, lose some type, who suddenly found form and destroyed Pat Cowdell , then went on to challenge for the IBF title. Unfortunatly Daho was killed in a car accident after he retired.
here's the first 3 parts of the documentry.

Najib had previously outscored Australia's rugged Barry Michael, the man he challenged for the IBF super-featherweight title, but it wasn't to be in the rematch.
Najib was a lovely fellow - outside the ring; inside, he was particularly good with the crust.

Put the rest of the Najib Daho tribute up on site

and also some of the 1987 ABA finals

John Carr v Rod Douglas.
I think i'm right in saying that this is Cornelius Carr boxing here, having just turned 18 and facing a very good Rod Douglas.

John Beckles v Harry Lawson
This one shows the old fashioned amateur fight, bigger punches and knockdowns.

James Moran v Henry Akinwande

Too true, the type of punch up you don't see in the amateurs any longer.
An action packed round with a Nigel Benn style finish.
I recall Beckles being touted as the next big thing in the amateurs, after what I think was a eye poppin KO win in the Euros. Then, as a follow up, he was coldcocked inside a round himself. Don't think he turned pro, wonder what he's up to these days.

Yes it was Michael Watson that beat Beckles in a round, after that John did turn pro. He went to America and was put in tough from the start. His first fight was against Marc Randazzo who would go on to challenge for the WBO title, after that Beckles had a couple of wins. Then was put in with Alfred Cole who was 4-0 at the time. John got beat in the 4th, of course Cole would go on to be a world cruiser champ.
Beckles came back to England after that loss, he had one more fight a 6 round TKO loss to Tony Booth.

looking up on the web i see that John is now a trainer at Haringey Police Community Boxing Club.

Are you sure it was Watson who chinned Beckles? I seem to recall Beckles was badly knocked out in an international match but shrugged it off and came back in style. He was a Howard Eastman-type character, enigmatic but talented and very, very heavy handed. He stayed amateur too long, in my opinion.
Scrap used to train him, I'm sure.

And Ian I thought Andries put Hearns over too, just before he was stopped himself after being pushed over, which made for a slightly weird ending. Though Tommy had obviously walloped him to the canvas around 10 times previously, so didn't count for a lot.
Though maybe I was seeing things, as I actually had a bet on Andries for some bizzare reason, I must have reasoned there was a chance he might catch Tommy with a roundhouse, like Barkley managed a few years before.
Think it was more of a push down MW - take a look at this grainy version of the fight. Around the 4min 45 sec mark Hearns goes down in a heap:

the Hearns knockdown was partly due to Grim Rosenthal 's truly awful commentary

Right I'm confused!

1. It's live.
2. It's live before the main event.
3. It's a well matched fight.
4. Neither fighter is from central/Eastern Europe.
5. Both men are trying to win.
6. The victory will genuinly affect the careers of both men.
7. The commentators are giving us useful information about the boxers records, and styles, rather than picking a favourite and obsessivly going on about how brilliant he is.
8. Neither boxer is being obsessivly touted as "the next world champion"
9. Neither boxing has "the magic 0" in their defeats collumn.
10. The KO is replied before 18 adverts for casinos and cars are shown.

Whats that all about???

No worries mate, I think Carl said this was his favourite win, some of the punches he takes are huge, excellent corner work by his team as well
