hatton should NOT fight corrales
he brings nothing to the table....and it'll prove nothing
how about a super unification event
imagine this....
HATTON (IBF) v COTTO (WBO)
LACY (IBF) v CALZAGHE (WBO)
MARQUEZ (IBF) v HARRISON (WBO)
AND 70,000 fans indoors at the millennium stadium in cardiff...
how about a super unification event
imagine this....

LACY (IBF) v CALZAGHE (WBO)
MARQUEZ (IBF) v HARRISON (WBO)

Re: hatton should NOT fight corrales
could SN afford it?? you saw the quality of the card that propped up Hatton v Tszyu....pasty_spud wrote:he brings nothing to the table....and it'll prove nothing

Hatton could sell out Maine Road on his own, regardless of undercard. Calzaghe could do 30,000 seats in Cardiff no worries for lacy. Harrison could get bums on seats in Glasgow for a decent match.
From a PoV of maximising a fan base, it doesn't make a lot of sense to put these fights together. That said, if it happens I think we're looking at some damn expensive tickets and a $30 pay per view. Plus there's the hiring of only one venue, albeit a pricy one.
Corrales does bring a reputation to the table and with Hatton it seems that beating the Man was more important than the IBF belt. Who's bothered about the belts he didn't win...

I would happily pay £30 to see that trio, but they'd never put all three of them on the same bill. Would work out better value for money than the weekend, much as the main event was worth the £15 alone the undercard was the worst I can ever remember on a big show like that. Can anyone remember worse? I really cannot. It was an absolute shambles.
Think about it though, the arena sold out in quick time with Hatton v Tszyu alone announced. So was Allegedly ever going to put quality fights under it? Was he hell. That's whats so wrong with his attitude to the sport. Yes he devliered the big fight but he insulted everybody who paid PPV or for tickets with the shambolic undercard.
Only when the main fighter cannot sell the PPV/tickets alone do we get quality undercards.
That is exactly what has ruined the game in this country over the last few years and we all know who's mainly at fault for that.

A fight with Corralles would be absolutely huge, you're talking about a major international PPV. It doesn't matter what it proves, what did Ward Gatti III prove? Hatton is a big ticket seller, Corralles increasingly so, and he's just taken part in one of the best fights of all time.
I reckon both men might wait a couple of fights before making it happen, and then they cash in their chips. Nice voluntary or two for Hatton, a couple of tune ups at LW for Corralles.
I think Hatton would give Corralles murders, he'd be so much stronger, but Corralles power might be able to trouble Hatton, after all, Tszyu wasn't throwing a lot of leather in there. Hard for fighters to get leverage on their shots against Hatton though, as they are always on the back foot with no space.

I can't understand why Patsy suggests Corrales brings nothing to the table, fair enough he doesn't own a meaningless strap for Hatton to win but in terms of excitement, talent and courage Corrales can bring it all. Imagine how good it could be when these two collide head on, it would be a war. As James pointed out, a couple of defences for Hatton and a couple of tune ups at the higher weight for Diego and this could sell out the MEN, Showtime would certainly want it and it would be a good PPV, show Corrales-Castillo a couple of times and that would would surely be enough to convince the casual fan it's a good matchup.

who you calling patsy???
anyway...ricky's next fight will be his 40th,beating corrales will win him nothing, unless it's a war, then he'll be a warrior.but we know he is already. he needs belts and titles. ley corrales have a few fights a the weight first.
and as far SN affording it...just say the AVERAGE price of a ticket was 50 quid.50 times 77,500 (72,500 seats in the stands and 5,000 on the floor) = 38,750,000 quid
a hell of a lot of money

Well, perhaps that was over-egging it a bit but to see Calzaghe in his biggest match for a long time there'd be a fair few going. No-one gives a rat's ass about Mger Mkrtchyan but Lacy could generate genuine hype. I'd make the trip for that one, and it takes some doing to get me to go to Wales.

Normally a match as this would sell...but with Calzaghe pulling out so often who would feel safe buying a ticket in the first placeCoconut wrote:tonyevs wrote:Jamie Sanigar wrote:

Exactly. I'd only buy a ticket for a Sicknote card if there was a quality undercard - i.e. Hatton v Corrales.tonyevs wrote:Coconut wrote:Normally a match as this would sell...but with Calzaghe pulling out so often who would feel safe buying a ticket in the first placetonyevs wrote:

Well Corrales is 146-147 come fight night, Castillo the same so that fight was really at LWW. Castillo also gave Mayweather hell who could be the best at 140 so Corrales is proven at 140 for my moneyRiddick Blowe wrote:diego corrales is totally unproven at light welterweight.
This is why hatton shouldnt fight him, IMO.

Well using your example, Hatton and Cotto are proven at 154 then.Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote:Well Corrales is 146-147 come fight night, Castillo the same so that fight was really at LWW. Hattons 146-147 fight night (against Zoo) and neither him or Cotto have fought guys who've gone up to supposedly be best at WW or LMW. However bigger guys find it easier going up in wieght - factSouthpaw Stylist wrote:Well using your example, Hatton and Cotto are proven at 154 then.Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote:Well Corrales is 146-147 come fight night, Castillo the same so that fight was really at LWW. I meant Corrales hasn't beaten any ranked light welterweights so doesn't deserve his shot.Southpaw Stylist wrote:Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote:Well Corrales is 146-147 come fight night, Castillo the same so that fight was really at LWW.
