Getting back to the thread in hand - it would be good if someone around here stated their opinions and went into the nitty gritty with regards to why this is a bad move for John Murray.

John will get paid well for his fights.

In addition many people have stated on here the shortcomings of "Meaty Mick" Hennessy on here which I disagree with however - if you guys are correct in that area - surely a move to W arren will do Murray's career no harm whatsoever.it already throws up a fight with Kevin Mitchell and in addition the Katsidis fight will be relatively easy to make amongst many others and whats more on the promotional side of things W arren did very well indeed in building Ricky Hatton's name up - yes I concede there were matchmaking issues however Hatton was a big name fighting unknowns.

In all honesty though you cant say hennessy is a great promoter, there isnt one fighter that he's made a big name out of who he's promoted ie in comparison to fw.

I think there are better options for Murray which I mentioned in the thread - the publicity shot for Khan (the potentially biggest fight for Murray) vs McKloskey indicates the option I would prefer.

Mitchell aside, there is not that much out there domestically for John at Lightweight and I would hate for him to lose his WBC ranking.

I have no interest in Khan/Murray unless it's at lightweight. Khan would simply be too big and strong come fight night. If Muzza beats Mitchell then the logical fight is Katsidis, but as much as I like Murray, I like Katsidis a lot more and I would fancy Katsidis to out-fight Murray and stop him.

I would rather see Murray face Soto for the WBC title if he beats Mitchell.

I just think there would be more global options should he signed for Hatton - Katsidis has fought on GBP shows also!

Mitchell is pretty much the only decent FWP Lightweight.

My prediction is we'll have Murray vs Burns for the WBO Lightweight title in 12 months. Not a bad fight, but I think Murray is ready to make a big(ish) name for himself globally. I would like him to go the Matt Macklin route. Yeah, I am annoyed that Barker vs Macklin isn't happening, but in the gand scheme of things - Winky Wright is a bigger fight.

To be honest i think soto would be too good for murray,he kinda reminds me of juanma marquez in the way he throws combinations,he also has fast hands too and can fight at range but can get dug in on the inside when he has to,shown when he fought urbano antillon who's style is very similar to murrays.

Hello David - yes, quite a few people basically calling me a twat on this thread, weren't there? Where are they now?

Hey, I hope it works out for John Murray - like him as a boxer and Joe G as a trainer too.

You know, I was just saying...

Soto is looking increasingly creakier with each new outing, he's going to lose soon, particularly if he keeps fighting guys at the top level who are fresh.

agree mate i'm not trying to over-rate Murray but Soto has always looked very, very open and ragged.

Fun to watch, but he's engaging in life and death struggles that someone with a touch more finesse or skill would be dealing with much easily. (much more easily? much easier?...I'm braindead today)

soto - he fights well when his opponent forces him to fight. the war with antillon was breathtaking action, and far better than "fight of the year khan v maidana" for quality sustained back and forth action. but if the opponent does not come to him, then his fights are stinking.

soto's next fight is a rematch with antillon. if he wins again, antonio demarco is the top contender and soto will vacate and move up to 140. i believe demarco said this after his WBC elim win last weekend, and that he could fight murray for the vacant WBC lightweight title.

demarco will perhaps be the easiest to bring to the UK, but i think the most attractive fight is brandon rios.
