Battle of the Unbeaten Heavyweight Big Bangers
Battle of the Unbeaten Heavyweight Big Bangers
Battle of the Unbeaten Heavyweight Big Bangers - Wembley Arena Feb 19th
Manchester’s heavyweight sensation Tyson Fury will be taking on another undefeated knockout specialist in 6 ft 5 inch Brazilian Marcelo Luiz Nascimento** in a 10 round “International Special attraction fight” at Wembley Arena on Saturday 19th February.
The event is being promoted by Hennessy Sports and will be shown live and exclusive on Premier Sport TV, sky channel 433.
After the fight with Francois Botha was knocked back by the BBBofC, Fury did not hesitate in accepting “the Hammer”, who’s record is 13 - 0 with 11ko’s. Similar to Fury's record which is 13 - 0 with 9ko's.
“It angers me when you see so called heavyweight prospects keep having bums put in front of them every time. I don’t want to go through my career like that, I want to show them how it’s done, so I'm taking on this guy who has an unbeaten record and is a massive puncher, this is what you have to do to become a star." said Fury
**Subject to medical approval by the BBBofC.
The great night of Championship boxing at Wembley Arena will also have two British title fights, the first title fight of the night will see Morden’s Lenny Daws looking to defend his British Light Welterweight title for a 3rd time and secure the Lonsdale belt outright when he squares up against Paddington’s Ashley Theophane.
The second British title up for grabs on the night will be for the welterweight crown, this will be contested between Shepherd’s Bush resident John O’Donnell and Craig Watson of Manchester. These two last meet back in April 2009 and produced 12 rounds of exciting boxing in which O’Donnell was crowned the new Commonwealth champion.
To add spice to this already great event, Colchester’s Commonwealth title challenger Lee "Lights Out" Purdy will be in back in action defending his Southern Area title against former British title challenger Michael Lomax of Chingford.
Joining these fighters at Wembley will be a host of talented young boxers including Haddenham’s Tornado Tyler Goodjohn, Islington’s John “Gorilla” Ryder and Brothers Chris and Andreas Evangelou of Enfield.
All of the action will be shown live and exclusive on Premier Sports TV Sky channel 433.
Premier Sports will also be shown live and exclusive coverage from the Hershey Centre in Mississauga, Canada, where former WBC Junior Welterweight champion, Junior “The Hitter” Witter, from Sheffield, is making his welterweight debut against Romanian-born Torontonian Victor Lupo.
Premier Sports TV broadcast monthly boxing from around the globe for the great value price of just £6.99 per month.

Re: Battle of the Unbeaten Heavyweight Big Bangers
This potentially could be an interesting fight. But the British public want to see Tyson in with the likes of Sam Sexton, Martin Rogan or David Price

Where do they find these guys??
'International Special Attraction'
How about a national attraction that would be more attractive.

Re: Battle of the Unbeaten Heavyweight Big Bangers
I like Hennesey and he does have some fabulous fighters but when he posted this thread with that title- did he (or whoever posted it) not think- 'f*ck these guys who are probably the biggest critics of all- plus have the power to use google search will take the absolute piss out of this match up'?
I'd have at least volunteered some video of the brazilian or something. Do promoters not understand that matches like this are largely pointless in international terms. If Tyson wins (which no doubt he will) then we will say so what the guy was cherry picked for having a fine record and a less then fine skillset. If he loses disaster- someone else puts the brazillian on their show and gains by beating the man that beat the man.
Perhaps they are trying to put Tyson up as a headliner but i'm not sure he's ready for that just yet. The wins over McD should have seen him move into contension for major domestic honours but since then he's not really had the opportunity to build any momentum. Plus he's just lost his trainer. Big ask I feel.

Have any of you guys seen this fighter? He isn't bad, a big lad and Basile isn't a bad scalp. Put his name through you tube and there should be a fight or two of him on there.

Re: Battle of the Unbeaten Heavyweight Big Bangers
He definitely isn't as bad as some people are making out to be, you can't just look at a record and make up your mind about him. He is very tall and is in decent shape. However he is a bit of a plodder and takes an age to cover back up after throwing a punch so leaves himself open to be picked off. Basile is a very good victory even if he goes have a glass chin.
Re: Battle of the Unbeaten Heavyweight Big Bangers
Looks like an exciting match up to me. The ten round distance may be bit ambitious, but while it lasts there could be fireworks.
This has to better than the two tomato cans I saw against Dalls and Price a couple of weeks ago who were simply dreadful.

Re: Battle of the Unbeaten Heavyweight Big Bangers
Better than how a few other heavyweights are being matched. And I remember the last time a south American, with a undefeated record, being called a puncher did against a British prospect. You just never know with these chaps - they'd fight their mam if the money was right.

This guy is going to KO Fury.

I am probably one of the few on here who rates Fury but I do think he has a good chin. Nascimento will certainly test it though, this is a good fight.Jon Saxon wrote:This guy is going to KO Fury.

Stiff & lacks defence & speed but a fvck of a sight better than the fat dude who got fed to Price the other day.
Nice match, if you ask me. If Fury's against these type of boys on a regular basis I certainly wouldn't complain. At least he's probably going to be up for it.

That guy looks pretty awful to me,the way he sticks the jab out but at the same time is pulling back which means the jab has no power and his balance is all over the place. He has a punchers chance though so we will see.

I rate Fury. I think he's shown a lot in his first dozen fights. Heart, balls, speed, courage, bit of power, chin. He's not a joke and I'd say he could do some really good things.
Re: Battle of the Unbeaten Heavyweight Big Bangers
I've asked this before and didn't get a response, so I'll try again....
Why are there two big boxing shows in London on the same night this saturday?
On the one hand you have Bellew v McKenzie II, Big Larry v Big John and Frankie Gavin, with a handful of prospects. This FWP card is at York Hall and will be televised on Sky. Then, about 12 miles away at Wembley there is the Hennessey card with O'Donnell v Watson, Daws v Theophane and Fury's latest on his route to global domination. This card is also televised on Prem Sports.
I can't work out how this arrangement suits anyone. London fight fans are forced to choose one card over the other. TV punters will have to choose one over the other (and in this case Hennessey will surely lose out as it comes at a premium on top of normal Sky Sports)? Surely a bit of thought applied to the bookings here would have resulted in two decent cards over two weekends rather than this situation?
By all accounts the York Hall will be sold out while whatever crowd turns up at Wembley will be rattling round the relatively cavernous Arena.

I know I'll get castigated for this but... It's cos the moment you enter into boxing business, you have to have half your brain donated to charity. Look at all the HBO/Showtime head-to-heads in America, the way all the top-level boxing (& there was a fvck of a lot of it!) was compressed into three or four weekends at the end of last year... Sheer madness, from a fan's point of view. But hey, some people are coining it today! That'll last forever at this rate! There's no way putting aside differences/allegiances for five seconds would benefit anyone apart from those dirty disgusting know-nothing pudenda who actually shell out to go watch/buy the PPV/subscribe.
& we can't have that, because they're a limitless, renewable, never-diminishing resource!
Right?
Right?
Right...?
Re: Battle of the Unbeaten Heavyweight Big Bangers
Manchester's Luke "Tyson" Fury continues to climb the greasy pole when he takes on Brazil's Marcelo Nascimento in a good-looking clash of heavyweight prospects on a good-looking show at Wembley this Saturday, scheduled for 10 rounds.
The gigantic Fury, 13-0 (9), is coming along nicely after a scare against John McDermott in Brentwood in 2009 when he looked lucky to take a 10-round nod. Still a baby by heavyweight standards at 22, Fury showed guts under fire that evening but came back to stop McDermott in nine rounds last June, so he looks ready for Nascimento, who is much older at 30 but boxed only 13 times himself, all of them wins, 11 by stoppage.
Nascimento clearly whacks and comes off a first-round stoppage of Argentina's Gonzalo Basile in Argentina in October, but Fury whacks himself, is just as experienced (make that just as inexperienced) and probably the better boxer. Plus, he is at home, while Nascimento has never fought outside of South America.
Nevertheless, Nascimento looks useful and stands 6ft 5ins, so he will not be massively outsized in the mould of most of Fury's opponents. This is a fine match - two unbeaten Goliaths coming together.
Young Luke is my tip to outlast Nascimento.

Its as though you are trying to undermine him calling him Luke.I know its his correct first name but loads of boxers have changed their name over the years.Do you insist on calling Sugar Ray Robinson,Walker or Ali,Clay?bennie wrote:Manchester's Luke "Tyson" Fury continues to climb the greasy pole when he takes on Brazil's Marcelo Nascimento in a good-looking clash of heavyweight prospects on a good-looking show at Wembley this Saturday, scheduled for 10 rounds.

Re: Battle of the Unbeaten Heavyweight Big Bangers
i cant see anyone stopping fury, especially an ok guy like this. if fury gets beat, it will be on points. this guy got a good win in his last fight and that was for a WBO belt, so he's got quite a bit riding on this.
will watch this bill instead of york hall now as gavin v cook isnt the headliner i wanted.
