Possible Correction

Hi all,

Not the most important correction you have ever had but in the “ancient history” section , you have 2 Australian boxers listed with the name Bert Spargo.

The Welterweight (ID 242697) I believe, should more correctly be listed as Bert Perry as he fought under the name of Kid Spargo (so his mother wouldn’t know).

Without anything to prove this (he passed away in 2003) he spoke of having had 15 “professional” fights in Sydney, Newcastle & Wollongong from early 1941 up until March 1943 (he joined the Air Force on the 16th).

He also was given “Leave” from training/instructing in Canada to go to the US (Chicago/New York?) and have at least one professional fight in late 1943 (a loss on points).

I made his alias Kid Spargo and changed his birthname to Bert Perry. I did however leave the name associated w/ the record as Bert Spargo. I'll leave changing that to someone more important than me lol
