Battle of the Unbeaten Heavyweight Big Bangers
Re: Battle of the Unbeaten Heavyweight Big Bangers
Not a bad opponent, but why oh why are fighters like Rogan, Sexton, Price, Larry O, for example, not getting the call or getting matched?
Fury is ok, better than your average big lump, he has balls but has no power.
His technique is poor, his power is non existant but he has courage, will that be enough? Seems a nice enough bloke, but its a definately a case of hype over hope.

No,i dont. What has losing his dad got to do with you calling him Luke. You have done it long before he got locked up anyway.bennie wrote:You really don't get it. The gigantic Fury, 13-0 (9), is coming along nicely after a scare against John McDermott in Brentwood in 2009 when he looked lucky to take a 10-round nod. Still a baby by heavyweight standards at 22, Fury showed guts under fire that evening but came back to stop McDermott in nine rounds last June, so he looks ready for Nascimento, who is much older at 30 but boxed only 13 times himself, all of them wins, 11 by stoppage.
Nascimento clearly whacks and comes off a first-round stoppage of Argentina's Gonzalo Basile in Argentina in October, but Fury whacks himself, is just as experienced (make that just as inexperienced) and probably the better boxer. Plus, he is at home, while Nascimento has never fought outside of South America.
Nevertheless, Nascimento looks useful and stands 6ft 5ins, so he will not be massively outsized in the mould of most of Fury's opponents. This is a fine match - two unbeaten Goliaths coming together.
Young Luke is my tip to outlast Nascimento.

His 1st round Ko of Gonzalo Omar Basile (padded record) here.

It is a mighty Ko though seen Dimitrencho do the same thing to Basile.

And if he fought mainly domestic rivals, you'd criticise him for not fighting international opponents.freddydoesdallas wrote:Unless he fights one of his domestic rivals, i've no interest. There are unbeaten fish to fry over here

Not a bad fight from what little I've seen of Nascimento. He's young, looks fit and confident, and has a dig on him. Of course there's very little of substance on his record, but then Machimana came with a more distinguished record the other day but precious little ambition. If Nascimento comes to win, it's a much better fight than Price-Machimana was.
Re: Battle of the Unbeaten Heavyweight Big Bangers
This could do quite well with a bit of promotional welly behind it.
2 massive great lumps, both big hitters and both undefeated.
How could you not be interested in something labelled 'Tyson Fury vs. The Hammer'? Not to mention Nascimento is quite mean looking n'all. Get some top drawer promo shots taken in a way that illustrates the enormity of these feckers. Have them snarling at each other, give Nasci a massive Thor-like hammer to hold (menacingly) and have Fury's fists covered in flames to represent his 'furiousness'. Fury should also be wearing a mouthpiece with a black tooth gap strip to mimmick Tyson. Make excessive reference to the Prescott loss, drill it home that this unblemished brazilian could be Fury's latin bogeyman. It'll be great!
I wonder if that's at all similar to the sort of brain dump which preceded the design of the Mitchell vs. Katsidis fight poster.
As for the fight itself, it's hard to tell much from that one round of Nasci footage. Lovely shot though. This feels like a fun fight.

I think that comment is totally out of place and quite deluded actually. Nobody criticized Fury for taking on John McDermott twice. John remains by far the best name on Tysons record. With this said, he clearly lost the first fight to John though.oliverfennell wrote:And if he fought mainly domestic rivals, you'd criticise him for not fighting international opponents.freddydoesdallas wrote:Unless he fights one of his domestic rivals, i've no interest. John isn't even the best heavyweight in our domestic division. If Fury was to take on the likes of Sprott, Skelton, Sexton, Rogan or Price (he was also offered Chisora without options before). That would be another step up in class compared to McDermott.
A couple of wins against some of the boys I mentioned would be excellent for Fury and he'd be near a world title shot. There wont be a single complaint from anyone if he took on a couple of our domestic heavyweights and managed to beat them.

I think it is a given that Fury will fight anyone. I think it is a case of the others not wanting to fight down to purses/options and lets be honest, it would be a hard fight for even the likes of Sprott (who for me out of the list is the only one capable of beating him) I would put my money on Fury beating Skelton, Rogan, Price and Sexton. I don't think any of those guys are frightened of him but they will want a handsome payday.
Nascimento will be coming over mean and hungry, a big guy, in good shape and he can punch! I don't think he is going to win but he will make it interesting while it lasts.

It's not deluded at all, and I don't mean that he's better off fighting international opponents. Obviously a mix of domestic and international is best. But my point was that Fury is one of those boxers which a lot of people criticise, and often unfairly so, and as a result cannot do any right in their eyes.Exoddus wrote:I think that comment is totally out of place and quite deluded actually. But you know what Fury has in common with Price, Dallas, Olubamiwo and Towers? They ALL have a dearth of domestic opposition on their slates. In fact, since you mention McDermott and quite rightly point out that he's the best name on Fury's record, he's also the best name - domestic or international - on all of these guys' records combined.
The fact is, whatever the nationality of the opposition, Fury has been matched tougher than any of our current heavyweight prospects, at the same time as being the youngest of the bunch, and yet all we hear about is how he's facing "bums".
NB I'm not a Fury fan. I want him to do well, as I do any of our guys, but I don't root for him more than I do any of the other rising heavies. Just looking at it objectively.

Fantastic post; as for the bolded bit, would you like a job as the designer of a certain promotional company's fight posters? You sound like the man for the job. You will of course be subjected to a low-wattage dose of LSD before you get to go anywhere near Photoshop or Illustrator, though.charlieb wrote:This could do quite well with a bit of promotional welly behind it.
