Black Marvin Hagler - love his counter punching ability and versatility.
Hispanic Wilfredo Gomez - What a finisher with one of the biggest hearts that I have ever seen in a fighter.
Asian Jung-Koo Chang - Excellent boxer that does not get enough credit.
Caucasian Harry Greb - have to admit that I have never seen any of his fights but his record speaks for himself. Top 3 p4p without a doubt for me.
1. Greb
2. Hagler
3. Gomez
4. Chang

The only actual ethnicity you listed was "Hispanic".
The other three are regional races of the world.
(American Indians have their roots in the North,South and Central Americas)

You gotta love Freddie Steele.
He is tremendously underrated isn't he?
I hardly ever hear his name mentioned, its a shame, but he is no doubt a legend.

For me
Black: Thomas Hearns
Hispanic: Julio Cesar Chavez
Asian: Manny Pacquiao
White: Wladimir K
And this is tough
1: Chavez
2: Hearns
3: Pacquiao
4: Wladimir K
My justification for the order is simply that Chavez holds the world record for being involved in the most world title fights 37 with 27 of them being world title defences and he was in his pomp a better finisher than Hearns, although Hearns did have better footwork and blinding handspeed, but Chavez was better at going to the body than Hearns was. Pacquiao is 3rd despite the record 8 world titles in different weight classes, but I put Hearns above him because Hearns fought Marvin Hagler, Roberto Duran, Wilfredo Benitez and Virgil Hill all of them hall of famers, although Pacquiao has fought Erik Morales 3 times, Juan Manuel Marquez twice, Miguel Cotto etc. His greatest I think should be judged in 2 or 3 years time when he does decide to hang them up. Wladimir K, great technical fighter rebuilt his career after being starched by Corrie Sanders, just has the misfortune of being around when the heavyweight division has dropped off.

He is entitled to his opinion, though I would think even you would say calling Chavez a better finisher is outlandish. Chavez over Pac is just silly considering their opposition and similarity in weight classes.

I don't agree that Chavez was Hearns' superior as a finisher, no. Both top-class in this department, but Hearns' reach, timing, & big-up on power relative to Chavez (even allowing for size) made him the more lethal closing fighter, IMO. Pretty clear-cut, actually.

Re: Favourite Fighter By Ethnicity...
Chavez belongs above Pacquiao didn't make his big bones fighting overrated has-beens like Pacquiao, he systematically cleaned out all of the fighters in each division he competed in until he met Whitaker at WW. Pacquiao has beaten some good and great fighters mostly after their greatness faded, Chavez single-handedly prevented his peers from ever becoming "great" in their own right.

Who did Chavez prevent from becoming great? Taylor? Perhaps, then again he didn't really beat him. It's all easy to say, but Morales, MAB & JMM are all greater wins than Chavez ever had.
Pac would have eaten him alive.

Yeah, just like he ate Marquez alive. The love affair with Pacquiao amongst knowledgeable fans is even worse than it is for Whitaker, who, by the way, beat the same people almost name-for-name that Chavez did, so I guess I'm right in assuming that Whitaker would've been David Diaz'd by Pacquiao then?SaadOffTheDeck wrote:![]()

Whatever Saad, don't be mad just because I don't agree with everything you say, and can argue as to why that is logically. The Chavez-Pacquiao thing is something we'll likely never agree on.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Too bad there isn't a sleeping emoticon. Because that post was incredibly redundant and dull.

I aint mad at cha. It's just absurd to call me a Pac hugger. And to top it off with fighter A beat Fighter B so, etc...
You're better than that. It would be a good fight. Pac's speed and power would be rough on Chavez. But he would own Manny on the inside and the later it went the better off he would be. I just don't see Julio winning, that doesn't mean I'm right. For the record, I hate both of them. You couldn't find a fight where I would have less bias.

I feel the same way. I actually think Manny is pretty cool and fun to watch, it's just that his fanbase is about as racist, deluded, and uneducated as any group of people I can imagine, it makes me want to see him get laid out Torrecampo-style.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:I pray to Erik Morales on Sundays. The thing that chafes me the most about him, is when people attribute things to him that are utterly absurd, like "Manny doesn't need belts, he's the people's champ" back when he was at 130 fighting everyone but the actual champ until Marquez II, then following that up with regular sacrifices to the ABC Gods for their silly trinkets which he had supposedly cared nothing for.
He's not the only one I've felt this way toward either. I wanted to see Khan and Chagaev get smashed on too recently, and am anxiously awaiting Povetkin's and Boystov's comeuppance.

Wasn't intending to call you a hugger, I know you're not. I just feel people overestimate how Pacquiao would do against all-timers based on a few good performances over guys whose styles and shape wound up perfectly timed for him.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Diamond WEAPON wrote:Whatever Saad, don't be mad just because I don't agree with everything you say, and can argue as to why that is logically. I think Chavez style sets up about as perfectly for him as any all time great would. If Julio got rolling and walked through his punches he would be doomed. Chavez Boxing ability gets a bit undersold, he backed off and boxed well against Lockridge and Laporte. But he wasn't more than average as a counter puncher. I really see the potential for a Pac fight being a more competitive version of the first MAB fight.

Re: Favourite Fighter By Ethnicity...
I see, I really see it being more like an extended version of the first couple of rounds of the Cotto fight, except Chavez had a better chin and he was actually harder to hit flush than Cotto thanks to his bobbing and weaving. I doubt there'd be much backing off from Julio in such a fight, which would give Chavez an advantage imo, because Manny seems to get exhausted when he can't simply charge forward battering his opponent all night and actually takes return fire and has to move around more. If there was somebody who Manny would absolutely get drawn into a war with, it's Chavez (although I doubt he'd have resisted the urge to go face first at Armstrong, Duran, and Pryor as well), and it would be to his detriment because at longer distance, he speed advantage would help him.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:I think Chavez style sets up about as perfectly for him as any all time great would.
