Alvarez-Hatton Fight
Re: Alvarez-Hatton Fight
I've been on a conference call with Oscar De La Hoya in the last 15 minutes and he said they have not heard from the WBC.
Re: Alvarez-Hatton Fight
Matthew seems a lovely lad and is a solid boxer at welter in Europe, though not the best, a World Title shot at lightmiddle? He's not going to knock it back if it comes but he is up against it. Alvarez looks very good but is not ready for the top men just yet. Best of luck to Matthew.

Re: Alvarez-Hatton Fight
Personally i dont see all the hype around alvarez,he seems to have a good boxing brain but he's not particularily quick or hits that hard and he's pretty easy to hit at times, going on what ive seen so far he seems abit of a hype jobsimon fox wrote:Matthew seems a lovely lad and is a solid boxer at welter in Europe, though not the best, a World Title shot at lightmiddle? Re: Alvarez-Hatton Fight
I don't think he's a hype job lefty; he has good skills, a great record and fantastic connections. He'll get the belt and mature into a champ.

Re: Alvarez-Hatton Fight
Chavez Jnr isn't the top man in his division but he's been brought on; he had next to amateur experience; similar I think to Alverez. The connections mean a shot at a title and then some lighter defences to mature. They're very young men still. I'm not defending the process, I've been critical of Amir Khan, but it's understandable.

Re: Alvarez-Hatton Fight
Yeah but to be fair khan has fought some decent fighters in comparison to these guys you knowsimon fox wrote:Chavez Jnr isn't the top man in his division but he's been brought on; he had next to amateur experience; similar I think to Alverez. Re: Alvarez-Hatton Fight
Yeah, you're right. I think that in another 12 or 18 months both of those'll be in hard, competitive bouts as well.
Amir had a stellar amateur career to build on, though he did it unusually young. Those 2 turned pro very young with little amateur experience to build on. A loss in the pros is seen as very important, in the amateurs not so.

To be honest though these guys are cash cows and i can see them being put in these type of fights for god knows how long!simon fox wrote:Yeah, you're right. I think that in another 12 or 18 months both of those'll be in hard, competitive bouts as well.

Re: Alvarez-Hatton Fight
Alvarez makes a lot of mistakes for someone with so many professional bouts. I like that he's been kept active and I think he's been steered pretty well so far but he's far from the finished article and doesn't look 'special' to me.
