Do prospects get protected too much in boxing generally?

ok in all seriousness i apologise for the rude things i said but i just retaliate if i feel like someone is taking a pop,anyway i agree that calling lesser fighters bums was out of line and ignorant of me so i apologise for that aswell.I just get sick as a fan of seeing these fights where you have one guy who leagues above the others getting put in with guys that arent on the whole going to provide any kind of test,i just dont see the point of it.

I know what you mean lefty, I'll just jump in and say throughout my career I've always tried to give my all, in the ones that after a round I know I can't really land or win I go defensive, but even then don't plant my hands on the side of me head , I give angles, movement & bring out the old Ali shuffle & try to entertain! Lot of money people pay for tickets & I really try to at least put a smile on their faces

Well thats fair enough mate,why cant promoters start putting matches on between fellow journeymen?Atleast you'd have competitive fights and probably in certain cases better than the fights you normally see!

I really tried with this journeyman prize fighter , been told I have more chance of being struck by lightning, on every show you need a lad that's going to sell tickets to pay for the fight . No promoter is going to do us any favours if they won't make a pound note, its a shame all round because I genuinely think I would prove myself britains no1 journeyman

This goes into one of my other posts, I really think a journeyman & a bum are two completely different things. On the frank malony thread people were slagging these boys that go over soon as they take one clean shot. Imo they are the ones that run the risk of being called a bum. A journeyman boxes every other week against up & coming boxers still holding their o, maybe I have rose tinted glasses on but a genuine journeyman brings much to our sport . I only really post on things I think I can talk about with an in depth knowledge , & when it comes to this subject I forgot more than most know

Well at the end of the day fans pay to watch good fights,etc so i dont see why there would be a problem with two journeyman fighting each other because it would probably be more exciting to watch that alot of the fights we see especially when its a prospect against someone who he's far better than and doesnt have the tools to do anything.

Ok i have a very cheeky question johnny so you can tell me to piss off if you like!Ha.What sort of money do you make for these fights and does it depend on the profile of the guy you're fighting ie if you fought say frankie gavin would you make more than if you fought skeete who hopefully you're gonna be fighting?

Yes mate, you'd get a lot more for frankie, er , let's just say the money is nothing like what people think, over the last couple of years purses have gone down , fw generally pays well , you get more on tv shows but on the whole, you have to do this for love viz its never gonna make me rich! Me & my family eat well mate.
