Liston was long odds on to beat Clay both times, same with Dempsey and Tunney. Bookies are poor judges.
On top of that Mundine has a near crippling hip injury from his time playing football. It has slowed him down a lot. At 35 you don't easily recover from something like that.
Whether his new found humility will help him is a matter of opinion. Wood has the advantage of knowing he took all Anthony threw at him and knocked him out.
As for Mundine having been ahead on points when wood KOed him, did any of you ever see film of Marciano beating Walcott? Jersey Joe was far enough ahead on points to win the Melbourne Cup when Rocky lowered the boom.
Love Marciano, only underfeated heavyweight champ of all time and still holds the record for 49 straight victorys and all that jazz, however Wood can't be mentioned in the same breath as the Brockton Blockbuster, it's like comparing chalk with cheese.
I think you might be singing a different tune this time mid year. I would be even more shocked this time if Mundine lost.

The first one was a rough, tough ugly fight. I think if Mundine isn't to far over the hill then I think he should have enough to outbox the one dimensional Wood, catch him coming in and then moving trying not to get into clinches like the last one!
Mundine will keep it on the outside, last time, he thought all he had to do was turn up to win and he got a shock! This time however Wood will just get a nice boxing lesson and doubt he will win a round. If Mundine has got the venue he will have the referee as well so no monkey business will be allowed from Wood.

Mundine can't move that fast now. His hip is the reason he will not go back to football. Hard to box if you can't move.

Can the promotor choose what referee they have? I know you can't choose what judges you have

I always thought the commission was in charge of appointing judges/refs.

Have you seen the fight? Agreed Mundine's a tool, but that wasn't an even playing field, it's better Wood learns to fight fairly/properly now, than to ship him overseas and watch him get DQ after DQ.
Les Fear is a real worry, Dib vs Yamaguchi, Mundine vs Wood and others... maybe time to have a think about something else besides officiating.

Les Fear is a good bloke and as far as reffs go ,there is alot worse than him out there, his also one of the most fair judges, the only knock. I've had on him is that sometimes he stops fight to early, and he did it to me against Steve Timbi, so I went up to him after the fight, and said why did you stop that ? He said you were gone, but I know I wasn't, that's just the way he seen it.
What i've seen of him, worries me and others, I'm no lone wolf on this one, and i couldn't care if he's a good bloke or not, i wasn't attacking his personal character merely his professional character, when i'm paying for a fight or spending money at the pub or in attendance i'm after an official with due care and who follows the Marquess of Queensberry rules.
I've seen you fight a couple of times Mark. You do claim to be have robbed in a couple of fights, why is that and do you you think you've worked out how to fix that?
