...or less. Wladimir Klitschko dies. If he doesn't die, it doesn't count.

You expect Lyle to put him away early?Diamond WEAPON wrote:...or less. Wladimir Klitschko dies. If he doesn't die, it doesn't count.

This would be a great fight.
I'd imagine Ron taking a pounding from the jab but winning by dramatic KO.

I think it's a very even fight, all-in-all, & I can see either man winning.Ezzard wrote:This would be a great fight.

Re: Ron Lyle vs. Wlad Klitschko...
The division needs a Lyle right now.
I think Klit boys need one too.

Re: Ron Lyle vs. Wlad Klitschko...
Lyle vs. Current Wlad I think Lyle fights through some adversity to brutally flatten Klitschko by around round 5. Wlad isn't used to the pace that Lyle would bring to him and although he'd hurt and likely drop Lyle once or twice, I see Ron scoring one of those highlight reel KOs on some "Timber!" shit.Goodnight, Irene wrote:You expect Lyle to put him away early?Diamond WEAPON wrote:...or less. Re: Ron Lyle vs. Wlad Klitschko...
It depends on which Wladimir we're talking about, if it's Wladimir circa 2002-2004 I think he'd get a little too offensive in there and throw a lot of punches at Lyle and wind up running out of energy and getting taken out like he did against Brewster. If it's the Wladimir of now, I think he jabs all night and fights with that low-risk style he has perfected and cruises to a Unanimous Decision victory.

You don't think Lyle would be able to muscle his way out of the clinches and wack Wlad about when he tries to wrestle him?gilgamesh wrote:It depends on which Wladimir we're talking about, if it's Wladimir circa 2002-2004 I think he'd get a little too offensive in there and throw a lot of punches at Lyle and wind up running out of energy and getting taken out like he did against Brewster. Re: Ron Lyle vs. Wlad Klitschko...
It's quite possible, Lyle has a lot more fight in him than the guys Wlad has been fighting lately. I think Wladimir is a very smart fighter now and would adjust to the difficulties Lyle would present him with. At the same time, I understand Lyle is a tenacious guy with a lot of heart and Wladimir would have his hands full in there.
Re: Ron Lyle vs. Wlad Klitschko...
Wlad has never beaten a Lyle... Ron KO 7
Re: Ron Lyle vs. Wlad Klitschko...
I like Klitschko by decision. He has really evolved over the last few years. I think Lyle would struggle with his size and jab, and as soon as he got in Wlad would probably grab him. Not surprised to see multiple posts that think it is inevitable Wlad gets knocked out--that's typical here and I expect a lot more of those assessments in this thread. Of course the chances are relativly high that Wlad falls apart at some point, but he has all the tools to give Lyle tons of problems and win the fight. The result of this fight is no foregone conclusion

Lyle is so far beyond the lot Wlad has been beating though . . .he's big, knockout hitter, athletic (much quicker than given credit for at the time), durable. Putting a prime Lyle in with the best of what Wlad's been beating (Chagaev, Ibragimov, Chambers) and I feel bad for Ron's opponents.crusader wrote:I like Klitschko by decision. Wlad's height and reach of course would frustrate Lyle a bit but Ron would start fast and land a big shot sometime in the first three rounds . . when he does, he's not going to let Klitschko stay in there.
Re: Ron Lyle vs. Wlad Klitschko...
Lyle was out-boxing Ali and out-banging Foreman.
No mean feats, Wlad of today has some very good skills and that jab and right will cause Lyle all sorts of problems. Whether it would be enough to hold Lyle, I cant really decide.
I tend to think not but I dont say that with total confidence.

I've got Lyle winning their first fight by KO in round 5 and Wlad winning the rematch by a competitive unanimous decision. I pretty much agree with everything, everyone has said so far - either man can win the fight, but a Lyle KO seems the most likely outcome.

Re: Ron Lyle vs. Wlad Klitschko...
Though he is no Lamon Brewster or Corrie Sanders, Lyle stops him within 3.
Klitschko is not going to avoid him for the full 12 rounds. The first time Lyle nailed, him, it would be over.

Does anybody remember Lynn Ball? I don't, but he stopped Lyle in two rounds.

Here's some footage of Ball.
Lyle was 38 and well past his peak by the time Ball stopped him.

Re: Ron Lyle vs. Wlad Klitschko...
I was going to say, the fight happened in '82, I think. Lyle was well past his prime, to be honest.
Re: Ron Lyle vs. Wlad Klitschko...
How old was he when Jerry Quarry outpointed him?

So rather than answer you talk shit. Go back to your needlepoint, it is the only point you have. Only drunks and taxi drivers thought Jones beat Clay ( as his name was then). The crowd was disappointed Clay's prediction that he would KO Jones in four did not come true. they turned up to see the KO.

You are dyslexic too. I asked if your grandfather was on the jury. You are obviously still in high school.

Lyle was 31 when he fought Quarry.
I don't understand the point you're trying to make . . . .
