Out of interest, other than Haye v Vitali/Wlad, what other big fights have fallen through based on Booths negotiating?
Think he's referring to the Hobson fight that never hAppened.
It was arranged in the end and Hobson pulled out late notice.I went, and Haye still boxed in Huddersfield.
It was arranged twice, Haye pulled out the first one with a calf/leg injury (as I recall) it got rearranged and Hobson pulled out the second fight with an injury, Haye then moved on. Real shame the fight didn't happen as there was loads of banter between the 2 camps on Doghouse and a bit of bad blood

Aye. And when it was announced I was out on the piss with Haye and Tim Westwood stood infront of me dancing their arse off.
Johnny Greaves gives another example of sharp practice from Hayemaker in this thread. There's another one going on at the moment with two promoters affliated with Hayemaker bidding for Groves-DeGale. Seems all the other promoters find Booth a nightmare to work with - FW, the Klitschkos, Adamek's team have all said so.
Nobody in this world is perfect, not least in boxing but Haye/Booth are pure mercenaries with short-term goals. Say what you like about FW but you don't stay in business as long as him without doing a lot right.
At the end of the day you can always say "Oh, but Haye/Booth were offered so much money to do the wrong thing" or "but this is boxing and everyone does the wrong thing when it suits"...
It's not good enough. Wrong is wrong. And people ultimately know that, and come to see through the smoke and mirrors of Hayemaker's PR efforts, and then slag off Haye/Booth for it. Rightly so.

i see what you're saying. they've done their thing away from the major players (sauerland notwithstanding) and had their success, and also their compromises (all that time off before the terrible valuev fight). good for them. haye will probably retire in a better position than the majority of world class boxers, in terms of health and wealth. but they aren't regarded well outside of the UK and despite putting on some great and good fights back in the setanta days, you have to wonder what will happen to hayemaker when the man himself isn't fighting on the main event.

Whats Booth going to do once Haye retires? Is Groves cast out like the ginger step-child? (No offence) I think the short-term accusation is probably true, if Booth plans to walk at the same time as Haye, then it makes sense to take the fiver now, than a pound a year for five years.

Cant stand tim westwood, would love to see someone knock his faux ghetto ass out
I think the negativity towards Adam Booth comes from the feeling that Hayemaker has been a bit of a let down.
Haye himself caught everyone's imagination by going to France to best Mormeck then hanging around to beat Enzo. As promoters they promised to revolutionise the business. I was at their first show in Sheffield and it was a real breath of fresh air- a card stacked with competitive fights- plus all the music between rounds etc. Booth himself talked frankly about his fighters and his plans and he seemed different to his rivals.
Since then, David Haye has not had the fights that boxing fans want to see and the Hayemaker promoting project appears to have run into some obstacles. I think that we all want boxing to be the way Hayemaker promised to make it. I think the anger comes from the realisation that the politics of the business seem to drag everyone down- no matter how noble their intentions. Boxing fans don't hate Adam Booth- they are disappointed that he has not been able to make boxing as good as we hoped he would.

Kinda like normal politics really, you can go in with the best intentions but still not accomplish what you aimed for because its not that simple!
