I have some day-after newspaper accounts that are not consistent with BoxRec entries:
1) Nov. 21, 1933: I have Buck Everett W-10 Tony Cancela @ Chicago.
BoxRec has Everett W-12 Chas. Belanger.
2) Oct. 23, 1933: I have Dick Daniels W-10 Ed Simms @ Cleveland.
BoxRec has Daniels W-10 Johnny Risko.
3) Oct. 20, 1933: I have the Gainer-Bozo bout at Waterbury, CT. BoxRec has NY, NY.
Can anyone help clarify?
Better off to go with yours Ric, the '44 RRB has that bout with Belanger and the Cancela bout taking place on the 8th of Nov., a D10 decision with no locale.
They also have Gainer-Bozo at NY
The Risko entry, is from the phantom editor and RRB has it 1933-03-28 at Cleveland.
As I go further along in my newspaper prints, I see the Everett-Belanger 12-round Winnipeg bout should probably be the one Colin entered for Dec. 22, 1933. My newspapers confirm that one.
Yes, the Everett-Cancela bout was a 15-rounder, per the Chicago paper. I recorded it correctly in the database, but misspoke in my last comment in this forum. I also misspoke in my original entry. My source - THE EVERETT DAILY HERALD newspaper - also reported it as being 15 rounds.
Funny about the Bozo bout tho'. Can someone check a NYT?
