Got clipped with a left hook and his legs were all over the place and then john jumped on him and basically unloaded and knocked him down and then he got back up and got knocked down again and it was overkeithmoonhangover wrote:Head punch?lefty wrote:Larry got knocked out in a round!keithmoonhangover wrote:What happened?

If he's in Darlo he'll be too busy looking over his shoulder to scan the threads

It would be nice to see some of you give Big John the credit he deserves after that great win, A lot of you including the trade paper were writing him of. He is now back in the heavyweight mix.

Frank...would you have held him back and let him develop before throwing him in with a man who arguably beat Williams and Fury in two of his last four fights??
Re: Larry - McDermott - Did anyone see it?
haha the bookies had larry clear favourite, unbelievable knew big john was gonna win someway or another, that guy deserves a lot more credit, takes every fight.

How long can you let a guy develop though before just admitting that his boxing skills arent good enough?!thepocketrocket wrote:Frank...would you have held him back and let him develop before throwing him in with a man who arguably beat Williams and Fury in two of his last four fights??

It's about striking the balance, that's why I am quite interested in Frank's opinion!!! I would have put him in with a big hard lump who may have taken him 10 rounds!
But at 32 I think Mr Warren wanted to see what he had

Totally agree. I said Mcdermott would win this fight and has really only lost once in his last 5!! John is good boxer with a great engine. he gets stick because of his shape but the guy can box!!!!!FtmPress wrote:It would be nice to see some of you give Big John the credit he deserves after that great win, A lot of you including the trade paper were writing him of. Yes, fair play to big John, he's very underrated. You might as well get him in with price or Dallas nowFtmPress wrote:It would be nice to see some of you give Big John the credit he deserves after that great win, A lot of you including the trade paper were writing him of. Re: Larry - McDermott - Did anyone see it?
Here's a bit of the report I did this evening for anyone who didn't see it.
Horndon’s former British title challenger John McDermott seemed like he was being set up as a body for a upcoming heavyweight prospect to feast on.
However, the 32-year-old traveller hadn’t read the script and flattered Hackney’s touted Larry Olumbamiwo in just one minute and 15 seconds.
Olumbamiwo, nicknamed ‘The War Machine’, attempted to live up to his moniker at the start but it was a tactic that backfired as McDermott rocked him with a left hook to the jaw followed by two solid rights.
Clearly shaken, Olumbamiwo tried to fight his way through the mist but was floored by another flush right hand upstairs.
Bravely, he clambered back up. It wasn’t long, though, until he was back down. “Big Bad” John detonated again and the Hackney man collapsed backwards into the lower ring strands.
Once more, he dragged himself to his feet. However, his legs were shaking and referee Geoff Hinds correctly waved it off.
After the debacle of the first fight with Tyson Fury, McDermott will be glad to finally have a win on his ledger. He proved tonight that he isn’t a fighter that just comes to make up the numbers and was rewarded for his effort by taking Olumbamiwo’s Southern Area crown.

Re: Larry - McDermott - Did anyone see it?
People forget i made Larry's first ten fights so i know what level his opponent were and i ask the bbbof c to make this fight when both fighter were with me as John was coming of a lost and Larry was the new kid on the block and at 32 you need to know how far he could go. I believe that FW team believed that Larry would do to John what Matt Seklton did. John knew this was his last chance, I have all ways said the only trouble with Big John is he does not believe in himself but tonight he left that dressing room with that belief in himself and it paid of. Now the question is can they bring Larry back.thepocketrocket wrote:It's about striking the balance, that's why I am quite interested in Frank's opinion!!!
